'96 50 HP Mercury, recently only running approximately near 9 :x . This after a carb kit and lookover from the marine mechanic. Unfortunately, I have to take it back in. Grrrr. But such is life with a 2 stroke :| .

Decatur Island Memorial Weekend trip report

Had some spare time this morning so thought I'd write up a quick trip report. I woke up early Friday morning, fired up Mr Jeep, ran up to my friends place where the Knotty Girl is parked and hitched her up. Headed back down to Edmonds and loaded her up with a ton of camping gear and provisions for 4...

Re: Pre-planning Everett (or Anacortes) to Decatur Island

Hi Phil,

My wife has friends who own property on the island and we're going to head up there for some camping. Looking forward to it :)

Pre-planning Everett (or Anacortes) to Decatur Island

The admiral and I are starting our pre-plans for this summers trip to Decatur Island and wondering if anyone has made the trip previously from either Everett or Anacortes with advantages/disadvantages for both, how long (probably taking a week vacation), etc? I'm thinking of slinging in at Anacortes...

Re: Newbie...Dad's buddy is "concerned"

Great trailer sailor, it has its pro's and con's but for me the pro's far outweighed the con's. I've sailed in the Med, the Carribean, Florida Keys, Alaska and Puget Sound (where I'm at) and wouldn't trade the Knotty Girl for anything. You might want to head up to Seattle, speak with Cheryl from Blu...

Re: New (to me that is) Macgregor 26X owner

Beautiful day out on the Sound with my neighbor on the Knotty Girl :macx: ! Dunked her at the Everett Marina, motored out, then waited to catch some air. Took a bit but it eventually showed up, clocked top speed of 9 knots, not too shabby :) On our way back, we passed to port of the yellow bouy and ...

Backstay

Ok, time to pick the brains of much wiser Mac people than yours truly .... Here's my challenge; the backstay cable on my X is approximately 4 feet too short to reach the tiedown on the transom. There are no kinks in the cable, including at the top of the mast. In looking at BWY it appears they have ...

Re: New (to me that is) Macgregor 26X owner

Absolutely beautiful 4th of July out on the Sound this morning and afternoon! Motored around as I believe I'm needing a backstay adjuster (next payday). Should have seen some of the surprised looks on some folks when the Knotty Girl got up on plane mwahahahahaha!!!

Y'all have a great 4th of July!

Re: New (to me that is) Macgregor 26X owner

Chain plate is there, I'm wondering if I can put an adjustment extension in or perhaps a turnbuckle at the transom tiedown point. I'll monkey around with it some but keep throwing suggestions out, and thanks, good input :)

Re: New (to me that is) Macgregor 26X owner

So clean up of the Knotty Girl is pretty much done, went through some dry runs of raising the mast and discovered my backstay is short about a foot. Hmmmm. Wondering if anyone in the Everett area would be willing to show a novice the finer art of tuning and first sail. I've had her out motoring and ...
