Re: Found a mast from Mac 26 - What's an honest price?
Hi ED, Bob again. Some of the earlier Mac's used the same mast as the 26X. When I got my X it had no mast, boom, rigging etc. So like you I went looking. I found a older Mac in poor condition on a trailer with mast boom sails etc. about 120 miles away from me. I offered $300 for all. The problem mov...

Re: Mast Mast Mast - Carbon? Anyone have one? Hobie-Option?
Hi ED. I have played around with a bent 26m mast. I cut it at the bend and made a sleeve using a section of a 26x mast. I could not find anyone who could supply a sleeve that would fit. It is very difficult to make a internal sleeve. If your mast is still straight, only crimped at the spreaders, do ...

Re: Hard Dodger
That's a very interesting mod. Can you tell me. 1. Are all the windows glass and is only the windshield moveable?. 2. What are the dimensions height etc and is there interference with the boom?. 3. Is hard top permanent?. 4. I see hand rails on the top deck. How do you get to the bow, through the ha...

Re: Furling Main
Hi KootsChewt. I have the same version boom furler you have, it is the original version. Jimmyt has a later one with a bracket that connects the roller to the boom at the gooseneck. I was given mine, but I am missing the bail that connects the roller to the mast. I am going to have make one. I am as...

Re: Why detach the mast for trailering?
I don't think that a spliced mast is weaker than a one piece one. Masts three times the length of a Mac's use them. The splice is usually about 30" long and right at the lower stays, a pretty ridged location. On a 26x you are bending the mast it might be a problem, though I think most of the be...

Re: Why detach the mast for trailering?
Earlier versions of the Mac had a split mast, with the coupling sleeve at the spreaders. The mast being in two sections could be stowed in the cabin for transportation and security. If the Mac26s had that feature you could lower the mast, detach the upper section leaving the lower still attached to ...

Re: Cockpit/Sink Drain Through-Hull
I have a 26x and the stubs of the through hull drains are 3/4" pvc pipe glassed into the hull. I added a short length of clear flex tube approx 5" long secured with double hose clamps. Then used a 3/4" plastic ball valve with a short piece of 3/4" pipe cemented on either end, One...

Re: Unintended rudder modification
Hi ris.
I have a 2002 26 X and am thinking to remove the mast and use the motor only.
What OB do you use and what capacity of gas and where do you store it?.
Do you have a backup OB for insurance?
Any advice so I can avoid problems?.
Thanks Bob.

Re: Sink Drains
Thanks for the input guy's. Well I guess you just push the plastic flex pipe over the 3/4" plastic through hull spigots and clamp them with a hose clamp!. Seems a bit hokey to me, being under the water line. I think I will permanently cement a ball shut off valve on to the through hull spigots ...

Sink Drains
I have a few questions I need help with. 1. I have a 26X and the two sink drains clear plastic vent tubes are not connected to the through hull out lets and are collapsed and useless. My question is how are they connected to the hull outlets. There appears to be the remains of some kind of sealant o...

Re: Used 26X mast
Hi. My 26X did not have a mast and I could not afford a new one. I discovered several of the older 25' Mac's used the same mast as the 26X, so I looked around Craig's List etc and found several available. I finally bought a complete boat for $300.00. I removed what I needed and gave the hull away to...

Re: Raising mast with furler attached + MRS
Hi all. I have seen this subject brought up several time in the past. There is no need to fight the mast, or try to find the magic length of baby stays, because of the geometry there is none. Do not shackle the baby stays to the mast. Pass the line from the MRP though the the baby stay shackles then...
