Re: Holy City Mac Roundup Oct 2014 (Schedule Change)

David Bourne and the Laura B can't make it. I'm bummed but will get it earlier on the calendar next year.

Yall have fun, but watch out for those NC Pirates. They will cut holes in your boat! 8)

PS, @Bahama Bound, I'd love to hear what you and the family thought of Jocassee.

Re: Tow Vehicle: V-8 or V-6?

I love my Ford F150 ecoboost turbo 6 cylinder. Plenty of torque and plenty of wheelbase. You want that and weight for stopping and control. Gets decent mileage for the size. I have the 4 door, which seats 6 and has tons of back seat room. A diesel audi q7 has great mileage and pulls like the dickens...

Re: Florida Cruise Dec.27-Jan 1st

Dave,

I'm really interested in this trip and in sailing your part of the world. But the timing does not work for me.

Maybe next time. The group looks like a good bunch. I'd love to see the different boats and learn what they do.

Please keep us posted.

MacTat Calendar Next Year?

Maybe we should make an admirals calendar like the Harley guys have. Our location shots would be better, for sure.

Re: Tattoo pricing and options

Mastreb, I like your idea for many reasons. I live in NC and have wanted to leave my Mac in FL for a month or two this coming winter. It's tough to find the time, but I'd love to sail the Northern Keys, The Punta Gorda Area and the St Johns River. These places are all near airports that I can fly to...

Re: Farewell friends... From Mac26 to Cat36

Congrats on your new boat. It looks a beauty. And Trailerable! (Sort of).

I see that it's large enough to host a polo match. That's pretty big!

Re: Winterize Suzuki DF50

Seahouse - ya that's what he said; Suzuki is moving away from the "quick-connect" hose, and going "hard-wired" onto the engine. Just to confirm, my 2012 Suzuki 90 is "hard wired" on the engine end. And I put a more common Evinrude/Johnson "quick-connect" fitt...

This water temperature data may be helpful as well. I used it for winter cruising ideas in Florida.

I'm glad to hear that Victor. One way conversations are just not as fun.

I'll always keep a spare mobile on board, too. I have an attachment that lets me plug into the better antenna if I need to.

Re: Request for destination recommendation

Hey, Look into the Isle of Palms area north of Charleston and Mt Pleasant, SC. Fishheadbarandgrill, here on the forum could give you the local details, as could bahamabound. Both live in the area. I'm from Georgetown, an hour north. It's a nice area, but too far inland for what you want. You could l...

Re: Winterize Suzuki DF50

Store the motor in the down position so it can drain completely and not catch more moisture inside it.

Cover the cowling to keep it out of the sun.

Keep the dang wasps out of it somehow! This may not be a problem in Ontario.

Re: Where to mount VHF

Mastreb, Can you and your crew members hear it, get to it, read the display, and easily use it? The helm seat location does not fit those criteria for me. Does your remote depend on batteries? That's a failure point because I can never seem to keep everything charged. I have a backup handheld and it...

Re: Natures head on a 26m, anyone?

I have a natures head on an M and it's great. It just fits into the space, and mine's a slight bit tilted towards the stern. I'm 6'4" and I can fit in the space fine, as long as I think about it before I duck. If you want to speed up the decomposition, you can add a powdered enzyme, such as Dra...

Re: Project M - Doubling the Size of the Cockpit

This is a very cool mod. How do you get in the boat from the water?

I have a 26M with a 90 Suzuki and it's a tight entry. So I'm wondering if your side ladder is full of awesome sauce as well.

Thanks,
