Re: Buzzards Bay Ramps?
Hi Bob! I know the tree to which you are referring at the Tempest Knob ramp! I have used some other ramps in the area as well for access to Buzzards Bay, Cuttyhunk, and Martha's Vineyard. In South Dartmouth is the Apponagansett Beach & Ramp on Gulf Road. It has dual ramps with a floating dock be...

Re: Cockpit table with a post?
Back when I owned an :macx:, I made a simple cockpit table system. The table was about 24ish" x 24ish", a single piece of birch plywood, radius corners, edge trimmed and about 5 coats of varnish. Using white cutting board material, I fashioned a bracket that mounted to the front of the hel...

Re: Did a thing (bought an X)
Picking her up next weekend and bringing her home. Isn't fabbing half the fun  ? The Admiral has spent several hours this week in the Mods section and making a list. Where in NH are you Over Easy and K9Kampers? I'm leaning towards a small marina down in Warwick RI so I can practice sailing in...

Re: Did a thing (bought an X)
Hi! & Congratulations! The rudders on our Mac26X are solid airfoil shaped plastic material and are original as best as we know . The swing keel, on the other hand, is a semi-hollow fiberglass construct that does indeed flood when deployed. Blue Water Yachts has replacement rudders listed in the...

Re: Honda BF50A Telltale stopped
Honda makes an aftermarket kit with larger block fitting but same hose. I removed the plastic outlet fitting and just stuck the hose out the hole, with the little wire hose clamp on the outside to keep the hose from slipping into the engine shroud, though it doesn't seem like it wants to. | With my...

Re: Steering hard when motoring only?
As a former 2001 :macx: owner, this scenario sounds familiar. When I bought the boat at its five year mark, and for several years thereafter, I welcomed a certain amount of stiffness with the stock steering. It wasn't enough to make me think something was wrong, but it allowed me to step away from t...

I've always understood it to be:New Jersey, for being such a small state has at least 2 distinct regions. People will proudly say they are from "North" or "South" Jersey with different accents accordingly.

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy
For local marine supplies, check out the Ace Hardware store a 1/4 mile down the road from the ramp. They have a marine / fishing selection (at least the years we sailed there). The local West Marine store is a short drive away via Highway 89, Exit 14W, on Williston Road. If you haven't already, pick...

Re: 26X fender bracket recommendations?
When I had my , I had long debated investing in topside fender cages but ultimately decided against it as I could always imagine them being in the way or getting damaged. My practice was to store the fenders at-the-ready in the head, and in the basement when at anchor.

Re: 26X trailer tires?
Back when I bought a 2001X in 2006, I noticed the same pontetial effect with the tires. I forget what the tire size was. I observed the issue to be from the boat not being truly centered on the trailer after hauling out. Numerous redips to adjust centering was not efficient, so I did a fender mod. I...

Re: FYI: Emergency Steering Options
Now knowing that there have been multiple incidents of these ferrous (iron) keys having been provided with the steering wheels We’re gonna EXAMINE & POSSIBLY HAVE TO pull our 20 year old steering system apart to see if this affects us BEFORE we end up in the same situation that Opie found thems...

Re: Lake Champlain Vermont Boat Launch Ramps, Vehicle w/ trailer parking and Marina Recommendations
I highly recommend the Mallets Bay boat ramp in Colchester. It is a wide and easy slope and has an ample parking and setup area. Set up in the parking area above the ramp and tow mast up to the ramp. We used this ramp many times over the years for our Lake Champlain excursions when we owned Over Eas...

Re: Mac26X Cabin Stair Mod
What is in the bottom stoop? Anybody know if it can be removed? That "bottom stoop", or step, is removable. It covers the ballast fill valve and vent plug. There is a page on that, with pictures, in the owner's manual. If you don't have the owner's manual, it can be downloaded from the RE...
