Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy

Some very nice work here. This is particularly impressive. https://i.postimg.cc/Kj8bFWRd/image8.jpg I have the same view as Inq. When I see that panel, it says "This boat has had water problems. Look at all those bilge pumps and alarms on a 26' sailboat". Just curious, did K9 report water accumulat...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....

Tom mentions running a dock line around the rudders. My :macm: has a hole at the top of each rudder that align with holes in the rudder brackets, so a 7/16 bolt can run through and be threaded with a lock nut. In addition to the rudder lines, these hold the rudders up while trailering. Does the :ma...

Re: Refit.

What a great idea to quiet the ding dongs!!!! Who ever thought up the zip-tie whips was brilliant! Simple, cheap and effective! We are planning on adding a pair of spreader bar lights before raising the mast for the spring season. We are really glad to know this now rather than later. Thank You!!! ...

Re: New 26X owner, going to need a lot of help!

My hatch cover doesn't appear to have anything between the cover and the deck, is this normal? It's just fiberglass on fiberglass, and areas are pretty well worn out. The sound that it makes when opening/closing is still haunting me in my dreams. I'm going to be fixing with some UHMW strips, but wa...

Re: Unnamed 26X

When I became the 2nd owner of Over Easy, the absence of a naming story from the original owner allowed me to ponder a meaning to the name. Something egg related was always assumed by others but I preferred to think it would be the name of a boat drink. In my 14 years with the boat, I never decided ...

Re: LandingLoop for Docking

In lieu of amidship cleats, I've utilized the cabin top winches in various ways to aid in quick/temporary docking, keeping all the action near the cockpit. The winches are great for securing spring lines as well. Having additional cleats amidship would certainly be a plus.

Re: Weird Pole on my Boom?

I suspect it's possibly a boom vang but several unknowns to be certain. The blue wire bail in the last pic is possibly to cradle a line led aft for helm control of thing. If this were to function as a vang, then in the first pic #717, the heavy duty strap end would connect to the mast base, likely w...

Re: Weird Pole on my Boom?

That certainly is a curious mod. A few questions:

What is the length of the pole retracted / extended?

How far from which end of the boom is this attached?

Bottom photo #120710, what are the lengths of the two cables attached and what is at the end of the cables?

When you get around to the haul out checklist, remember to add 'pull up rudder(s) before hauling'.

Re: Rewire the Mast

When I rewired from the mast deck plug to the switch panel, I used all the access holes to pull the wires along as the route is not a direct path. I even had to drill a new 2" access hole in the cabin liner in the vicinity of the port chain plate to discover that the factory wires were sandwiched be...

Re: rear view mirror that attaches to a round stanchion

This is the closest thing I have found to what I want. I was just hoping to have a clamp designed for a round "pipe" like we have on Mac's vs the square ones like they have on pontoon boats. https://www.etrailer.com/Boat-Mirrors/CIPA/CM01877.html?feed=npn&msclkid=288df29e763c1baf89bdad3077eb90ad&ut...

Re: 2 stroke oil tank mounting

Is this the gallon or so sized VRO tank? Have you considered seeing if it could fit inside the helm pedestal? I have one of those tanks in my barn but no longer have a Mac to test fit it.

Re: 26X head sink - remove it?

No need to remove the head sink, if you're thinking of cutting it out. I never used it as a sink either and it does seem to be a useless feature. Cutting it out partially or entirely could lead to a wtfwit moment after the fact or in the mind of a prospective buyer years later. The basin does serve ...

Re: OB up or down?

If we can get to some weigh scales we will also get that done as well. Unfortunately there do not appear to be any locally that we have found but it is something we would like to get accomplished before our trip. Give a call to BCEP on Rt. 107 in Pittsfield. We used their scale our first year when ...
