Re: Rudder Attachment to 26M Hull Postby Crikey » Sun Jun 15, 2014 8:53 am That explains it! Your rudders are installed upside down.... :D Couldn't let that pass.....with a name on your boat like "crikey" make sure your rudders are not upside down too....easy to do, since most difficult th...

Re: Rudder Attachment to 26M Hull
I have certainly learnt a lot on reading the comments. I have the flaring referred to earlier. So I will have to consider replacing this or strengthening it. But Seahouse if there are no other takers, I can email you my postbox details to acquire the spacers as a starter. I believe the cause were th...

Re: Rudder Attachment to 26M Hull
To Seahouse and DXG4848 Thanks Seahouse, I was wondering as well what I had created! Certainly appreciate very much this forum, I have had my boat for 4 years and it has taught me a lot, and I have saved money by doing it myself with the benefit of this site from gelcoat repairs to outboard maintena...

Re: Rudder Attachment to 26M Hull
Seahouse Thank for that advice. When I replaced the bolts I used a lot of sealant and gooped the hole and then pushed the bolts through. I used 3M 4200 (should it be 5200??) since the sealant on there come off relatively easily. By the time i did all this, the boat had been out of the water for 10 d...

Re: Rudder Attachment to 26M Hull
Possibly you could use a vise grip on the outside (have someone clamp it and hold it) and then see if you can loosen the nut on the inside, then knock the bolt out from the inside. Alternatively replace the ones you can, assuming not all of them have the problem of not being able to be wrenched. Or ...

Rudder Attachment to 26M Hull
When I had my boat on the hard for bottom painting, I noticed something of grave concern. The attachment or stainless steel plate that affixes to the hull for the rudders has four bolts in each plate for each rudder. During the winter I noted a pesky leak that I traced back to the rudder connection ...

Re: 26M 2012: help rigging my assymetrical spinnaker for the
Apologies Sailfish, I did not return to this posting until now. I don't have anything to add, the ATN tacker I have found to be really good, though I don't like the pulling/ jerking on the forestay when the wind changes etc, hence my reservations on the 1/8th forestay and the risk of de-masting. Let...

Re: 26M 2012: help rigging my assymetrical spinnaker for the
My first posting, a tremendously helpful site. Like you I had no idea. I tried from the jib halyard block, but it didn't work too well. So I ordered a mast hound from BWY in Seattle and placed it above the jib block last season, exactly 18 inches. What a difference, it worked so well. A couple of ot...
