Re: 1988 Macgregor 26D lug nuts number

If the hubs have bearing buddies you shouldn't need to replace the bearings. If the trailer hasn't got 100 000 miles on it. I picked up a trailer that sat in the lake for most of the year.... Yes, in the lake! Not just 1 year. I'm told it was there for 8! It had bearing buddies and the bearings are ...

Re: Will a V-Berth Water Bladder Shift?

Just something to consider before you get the bladder installed. Get in there with a sander and sand of any fiberglass burs. There will be some ware the hull meets the ballast. I would sand all over the area that you plan to use. I have found on all my Mac's that ware the hull meets the inner shell ...

Re: I need advice on a buying a 26x!!!!!!!!!!

The crack in the sink may be a sign of water intrusion and freezing. That depends on ware the boat has been through it's life. Fiberglass looks intimidating... It's not hard to fix. Just messy. Really messy! Look here: http://www.boatworkstoday.com MacGregors have a problem with leaking from the top...

Re: Blisters--a new hiding place

Steve is right. The 26D is the best of the Mac boats in terms of sailing. It's true about the acceleration too! I sailed my Siren 17 at our club this year and it was a dog to sail unless the wind is at 20knotts. It didn't point worth ....! (I did come 2nd of the keel boat class in the Pumpkin Regatt...

Re: My 2 1980s Vintage Mac 25s

I should correct my pop top statement. It lifts toward the back and is held by 2 aluminium posts that slide in the front under the lip and connect to the deck. This leaves the pop top in a forward position. They are kind of a _/''' shape. Or backwards Z. So up it is kind of strait but not leaning wa...

Re: My 2 1980s Vintage Mac 25s

Having 2 identical boats is great. Especially if you can keep them at different marinas to suit your sailing whims. I happened to pick up a 2nd Mac 26D last year. It was offered to me at a price I couldn't turn down. I tried to purchase it 2 years before and the deal fell through. But here it was ag...

Re: Visitor from Tasmania

I think this connection is true for almost all sailors. I have found that when I travel I can call up a local yacht club and get out an a members boat. (We belong to a small yacht club in London Ont. fyc.on.ca But I don't think that matters.) I did this last year in Charlottetown PEI. I had been on ...

Calgate "I'll let Heath know you are trying to reach him, I'm sure you would like to buy an ad... Check out Colonel King (c130king ) who runs a charter down in MS. Different boats but same stuff. I think, and that's a stretch for me, your target market isn't big on social media. A good websi...

So you were volunteering to help clear out the derelict boats. They just send those off for crushing right.
I helped out at a local storage yard too. But I took the boat home... It's a Siren 17.

Re: Top 'o' The Daggerboard

I have made a mold of my 26D DB and am going to produce a few of them for myself. I'm not sure if it is the same as the 26M.
It's not too hard to make a mold so you can make your own.

Thanks fro the encouragement old puddle pirate. Wow I was expecting a couple of pages of comments. (Is this the mac sailors site...?) I've been busy all week working on the boats and didn't have time to check in. I have been building fibreglass forms so I can make dagger boards and a few other thing...

Re: water leak - 26S

Hi Mac Rookie, Have you spent the night in your boat during a heavy downpour? I was experiencing the same problem, I couldn't find a leak anywhere. Finally, one night we were sleeping on the boat and not long after it began raining, we heard it.... Somehow the water was leaking through the interior...

Charter a Mac 26D in the North Channel this summer.

Hi all it's Marty Jackson (finding41). I've started a new bare boat charter business in the North Channel with my MacGregor 26Ds. They will be in Little Current. (Not sure what marina yet.) I'm looking for any and all advice I can get about my website and social media stuff. So far I have a Twitter ...
