Great feeling

We had a funny day last Sunday at the marina. It was a very hot day, in fact it has been very hot for some weeks now. We usualy do not sail on Sundays because the lake is always packed on a hot weekend, but everybody in the family wanted to get out so we drove off to our marina where I keep my X in ...

Steve, I copied my older treat below, you may consider using the short cables, like I did. I had the cables on my X replaced 2 months ago, it looked as if they where stuck due to corrosion. The dealer only had the short cables in stock. So I had to make a new whole out the back like you have on the ...

Yeah I know your problem. Whenever I have to attach something to the thin liner I use standard building plugs, like these http://www.onlinebouwmarkt.nl/winkel/images/plug.jpg Works great and keeps the stuff in place. However, I only have experience with attaching relative light items. I wander how h...

A sad day yesterday in the volvo Ocean race. Dutch sailor Hans Horrevoets went overboard on ABN Amro 2 and was found only after 40 mins. He died later that day on board ABN Amro 2. Incredible that they even found him again. In a pitch dark night in the middle of the Atlantic. http://team.abnamro.com/

Dinghy transom gas tank

Anyone seen this transom gas tank before? They come in 3 and 6 gallon versions, so ideal for the dinghy. Main advantage are very short fuel lines. http://www.compass24.nl/produktbilder2/1/mittel/0100470_r1_FS04im.jpg http://www.defender.com/images/451095_2.jpg http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?pat...

OK thanks everybody for responding to my question. It seems we have 2 good working alternatives here. The 'sporting' solution of AYA16 and TT and the 'cruising' solution of BB and DLT.
I will tell my 26M pall this good news and he may decide which one to go for. :)

Hi They theirs. It looks to me that the option with the swivel cam works only well if you do not have a dodger or sprayhood, because to unlock or lock the cam, which is fixed to the mast, you need to swing the halyard up from the cockpit. Am I correct in this? Also the other option (BBs) is more or ...

Lines led Aft on a 26M

I have my lines led aft on my 26X via the starboard side. I was helping a new 26M owner last week with his first sail and he wanted to have his lines led to the cockpit too. But my question is, can this be done with the rotating mast. It looks to me that if the main sail is hoisted there will be so ...

Some with 26X have slightly tweaked the companionway hatch so it can stand under the lip of the helm seat ... double-layered FRP that comes pretty close to completely filling that gap. It surely meets the "dual-functions" test for Macgregors. That's what I did, just trimmed the edges a li...

I have the BP MSX 30 watt panel already for 5 years now and it still works great. BP MSX It is very thin so I have installed it behind the mast, so the sliding hatch slides over it. If I notice on a hot day that the fridge is using up too much power, I just close the hatch for a while and the batter...
