Re: Imexus or Tes as big brothers to Mac?
The Imexus is made in Poland per the webite, so I wouldn't consider it at all. The Tes looks to be made in Canada. From the pictures, there is a lot to like. It's got a nice beam of 9' 11". That drop down swim platform is a really nice feature I'd like to see on more boats. How much was it list...

Re: Strictly Sail Chicago Jan 14-18 2015
Thank you very much! In the pic, the rudder looks very long. Don't quite understand you comment about it when heeling. The angle of heel may be a lot less than on a Mac - I've read 15 degrees is normal. Did you see how deep the lockers were under the cockpit seats? I was curious if the one on the st...

Re: Strictly Sail Chicago Jan 14-18 2015
Did anyone get any pics of the Seaward 26?
Very interested in details like lockers, under cockpit storage, etc. Storage compartents in the cabin, and what is under the galley.
How high is the standing headroom?
Thanks!

Re: Considering a new boat
You are right, the appeal is build quality and more "cruiser" amenities. I'm not sure yet if interior height is an issue. Doesn't appear to be in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFRyj4Ae0VA I'm 5'10", so most times I don't have issues. My M certainly has a cavernous interi...

Re: Considering a new boat
I've had a buddy this week giving me a hard time about wanting a new boat. His advice is, if you are going to have to pay to keep a boat at a marina, you may as well get a big boat you can go cruising with and take people with you. He recommends a small cat like the Gemini Legacy 35 or a Gemini M105...

Re: Considering a new boat
Why so much advocacy for a boat like this when the intention was stated as coastal cruising around Florida, the Keys and maybe the Bahamas some day?
It just seems wildly inappropriate for that kind of cruising. Especially when the source is Mac owners.

Re: Considering a new boat
Towing a 32 does not require a CDL. Just a permit in certain states. In SC, where I live, none is required to haul it to Charleston if I understand correctly. The Nor'Sea looks like a stout, but expensive boat. I don't care for a mid-cockpit arrangement, and it's hopelessly small cockpit (even small...

Re: Considering a new boat
Thanks for the good input. I plan on traveling to the factory to look at both boats sometime this spring. Yes, pictures can be deceiving. They look huge using that wide-angle lens! I do have a big diesel truck that will tow 17,000 lbs. I can imagine if I went with the 26, I'd use it much like my Mac...

Considering a new boat
I'm thinking about getting a bigger/more comfortable boat later this year. My 26M has been fun, but I'm sick of the small cockpit and the big noisy motor. Pretty impressed with the Seawards. Yes you can beach them as seen here: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8632/16078080147_03b8d29933.jpg There isn...

Re: Worst part about getting a different boat ...
Beneteau has manufactured boats in Marion, SC since 1986. The parent company is French, but a boat you buy in the US was likely manufactured here. A good thing really.

Re: New 26M
Wow. Guess I don't understand the defensive tone of the above 2 posts. No-one was comparing these two boats as an either-or proposition. I was suggesting that one was a suitable move-up boat with some of the desirable aspects of the Mac. You did get a chuckle with the suggestion that a Mac is a supe...

Re: New 26M
It makes sense if you need the trailer able aspect. If you live near the coast, and you want to sail oceans, then yes, a boat stored a a marina is more practical. BTW, any new boat around 30 ft is gonna be upward of $150k - priced a Catalina or a Hunter of that size? The Ranger tugs forum has severa...

Re: New 26M
The F70 is fine. It's quiet for an outboard. I couldn't really tell you if it's faster or more economical tan a 50 or 60. In hindsight, I should have just gotten a small engine as speed in this thing is not my bag. If you want to do water sports, a bowrider makes a lot more sense. Is a Seaward expen...
