Re: Raised boom affecting mainsail shape?
So I didn't end up getting any pics during my sail on Monday. But I noticed for sure this time that there are wrinkles in the luff when the mast is fully raised. I do not use the bimini frequently, so I would not be very concerned that lowering the mast would make it impossible to sail and use the b...

Re: Raised boom affecting mainsail shape?
Sorry to be unclear, I meant that the sail is baggy. Is the halyard block just the hardware at the top of the mast that stops the mainsail from going any further up? It looks like it is just a pop rivet. I think I could probably replace it with another one an inch or two higher. But I don't think it...

Raised boom affecting mainsail shape?
First of all I wanted to say thanks to everyone on the macgregorsailors.com forums for being so helpful! I'm a complete beginner, and have learned so much from these threads. Hopefully someday I'll know enough to be able to contribute, rather than just pick people's brains :) I've had a 1994 Mac 26S...

Re: How do you store your roller furling jib?
Thanks everyone! Lots of simple, good ideas. Velcro seems like the most common solution.

How do you store your roller furling jib?
I have a Macgregor 26S with roller furling. I do not yet have a mooring, so I launch my boat every time I sail and store it in my driveway. I was wondering where and how everyone else who has a similar situation stores their jib. In the boat? In the garage? If you store it in the boat, do you rig it...

Cleaning the boat :)
I just purchased a 1994 Macgregor 26 and have taken it out twice now. I purchased the boat in very good condition, and would like to keep it that way. I'm looking for any recommendations you have as to good cleaning methods, and the frequency with which you clean your boat. What do you use to clean ...

Re: Some basic questions
Thanks all for the replies. I wasn't sure whether this was a "that's a really stupid idea" idea, or a "proceed with caution" idea. I had just about convinced myself of the latter, so it is very helpful to see a consensus that it is actually the former. Based on everyone's advice,...

Some basic questions
Hi all! I just bought a 1994 Macgregor 26S 2 weeks ago, and took it out the first time last weekend. I had some scary moments (rudder slamming into outboard prop and almost sending me into a bridge pilon, motor dying and the wind subsequently dying, making it very difficult to return to the pier...)...

Trailer Bearings
I will soon be purchasing a 1994 Macgregor 26S in Massachusetts and will be driving it back to Connecticut. I have heard horror stories of trailer wheel bearings failing due to lack of grease. I am not sure what condition the wheel bearings are in. What do I need to look for when inspecting them (I'...
