Re: Southport NC -- trip planning info needed

excellent info - very much appreciated. couple other questions -- i looked on google maps and can't find sharks tooth island -- how far upriver is it? -- it looks like there are a lot of estuary type of areas in the river basin closeby Southport. Are these navigable in an :macx: ? some of those area...

I am potentially planning a trip to Southport area this summer and am wondering a few things ...... (1) is there any decent inland sailing in the river areas there or does one have to go oout into the atlantic for decent sailing? From what i can tell, one would head out to the atlantic. (2) if headi...

Re: Issues with Dowsar Marine Supplies

that's my point - some people don't think about how important customer service is today - which is why i posted this in the first place. Honestly, I just shook my head in disbelief for a couple of hours as i have never had someone come right out and say that they were making a conscious choice not t...

Issues with Dowsar Marine Supplies

I was given a set of stern rail seats for my :macx: from a friend who could not use them (sad for him but lucky for me). I called Dowsar to ask them a question about the installation on 2 separate occasions and was basically treated the same way both times - very poorly. The first time was about a y...

Looking for camping/sailing spot

I live in Northern Virginia and am looking for a place on the Potomac, Chesapeake, or other near...

Re: Cleat suggestions?

A few years ago I purchased a set of cleats that fit right on the jib track. I have a 150 gen you so I don't use the forward tracks. I absolutely love the cleats, can adjust location, and having a set midship is really versatile. You should consider a set - love mine.

Re: Confessions of a bad Captain

I have a great one that i am really embarrassed to tell ......... When i first got my :macx: in 2012, we immediately had it slipped, but on a floating rather than fixed dock. this made boarding quite difficult as the dock was at the waterline which required a step stool to board. Admiral VERY new to...

rigging downhaul

Two years ago i purchased a new loose-footed main with sail slugs at which time i also rigged main halyard aft to cockpit. At same time i rigged a downhaul which i attached to the main a couple of slugs down from the topmost slug. When releasing the main halyard and then pulling down on downhaul - i...

removing wheel

I want to remove the wheel on my :macx: so that i can take it inside and coach whip. I need small projects to do while recovering from major back surgery :( I pulled the black cap off and saw the nut holding wheel in place, but cannot figure out how to get the nut off -- lock wheel using 2x4 or some...
