Loadrite has a factory trailer that works well - call them, tell them the boat you have, and they'll be able to choose the right one and set up the bunks appropriately for you.

Re: Had a bad day
I'd just like to say - I'm damn glad the boat was on the the trailer, and not a few miles offshore with you and family on board! I've got a 4-person aviation life raft that does double duty in the boat when I'm not flying - for exactly this reason.

Re: How you tie down?
Last year we upgraded to a slightly longer Loadrite trailer, and put small aluminum brackets on the lower transom mounting bolts on the Suzuki DF70A. Standard boat tie-down straps now run from there to tabs on the trailer. It's almost worth the price of the new trailer not to have to run a strap up ...

Re: trailer + boat lenght?
It varies state by state, and road by road, but there is usually a max length allowed without a permit. I've seen it from 55-70 feet. Not that it's commonly enforced, luckily.

Re: Swapping out OEM cleats
Keep the required scope in mind. Typically, mooring balls are attached to the bottom with very short scope - a dock or other line looped through the mooring ball's tag line is required to provide the necessary scope. Normally you wouldn't tie the tag line off directly to the cleat anyway. My charter...

Re: The new Tattoo
Sailed the new Tattoo with a nice couple from Colorado today, a lesson as they have a MacGregor. The boat sailed nicely, we still have light air but enough to get her moving and healing. Time will tell in higher winds how the boat performs with the powerhead sail. The sail comes standard with 5 ful...

Re: Quick-enough disconnect
you can tilt the motor a little back down to avoid this but I find that on 'boat' if I do the motor is dragging slightly in the water. (I think 'boat' might be heavier than a normal MAC when ballasted, not sure why, maybe our pacific ocean water is heavier with more pollution or something or maybe ...

Re: Are surge brakes really worth the trouble and maintenanc
Hi Bob - You're absolutely right, for a well-equipped truck these boats are small potatoes, and it'd be pretty hard to mess up enough even in the mountains to get in too much trouble. My daily driver is a 2011 Sierra crew cab dually with a Duramax - hit the interstate, set the cruise to 75 and head ...

Re: Are surge brakes really worth the trouble and maintenanc
I always used to use the trans to slow down a hill or coming to a stop. Then I was watching an driving show a long while ago and they had some F1 or WRC racer on talking driving. "brakes are for stopping…thats why they're on your vehicle. Use them! cause they're a whole lot cheaper to replace ...

Congratulations!!
I love our Suzuki D70A - smooth, quiet and runs like a top. Except for the the going around in circles part.

And who puts a furler on a working jib?? The lines on the head sail say stock working jib (based on the tracks) I thought all the furler rigs were Genoas? (raises hand) I do! 100% jib on a furler. I'd kinda like a genny, too, but figured I'd start with this. The Admiral started out hating more than...

Re: Would you do motor 30 miles on a used boat?
Enjoy rest of season sailing using 6HP to get out to Bay. FIx 50 over winter and install next year, sell 6 HP one year old for 700-800 minimum Noted. I'm going to research the speed a laden macx will make with a 6/10. 50 is heavy and sucks down fuel ( don't let the inboard crowd hear that). Had it ...
