Thanks all for the good advice. I will be using the bolt from now on and the halyard as a safety.
I found the roller ball mast bearing at Blue Water Yachts in stock as well as the spreader. Both will be here by Friday.
Thanks again to all.

Mast Falls - 26M
The rigging was up for three weeks, since taking the boat out of dry storage, and docked at a friend’s house at lake Harwell Georgia. We had some very gusty winds for a couple of days when my friend called and told me the mast had come down. The dock is in a protected cove but wave action could have...

For the last month of the season my M has been stored at Lake Hartwell which is roughly one and a half hours north of Atlanta up I-85. It is a large/deep COE lake and so far my experience is the winds are puffy and variable. However, I have not made it to the large part of the lake yet which is some...

With the mainsail fully attached and flaked you can use a topping lift to pull the boom almost vertical then lower the mast for going under bridges, (M26). I did transport the boat on the trailer once with the boom attached and will not do it again. When the mast is lowered the boom contacts the top...

Heath, I think adding a wiki to this site is basically a great idea. Basic information and history subjects would be a natural. Subjects that have been discussed in many threads on this board could be summarized for easy reference and include opposing opinions or optional approaches to issues. This ...

Thanks for all the responses, looks like the bottom line is the M26 does not come stock with navigation lights that comply with the regulations for anchoring. International rules do not have an exception for anchor lights in areas designated for anchoring. The Coast Guard pamphlet titled “Federal Re...

Legal nav lights on the Mac?
If I understand the navigation lighting requirements correctly, we are to display a 360 degree white light when anchored in an area not specifically designated as an anchoring or mooring area. Does the anchor light on the M26 satisfy this requirement? It looks to be only about 220 – 260 degrees. My ...

Aya16 Thanks for starting this discussion and your commitment to what may be a lot of typing. My new M will be delivered soon so my question comes from anticipation rather than experience. The motor will be a four stroke Yamaha 60 whose technology is completely new to me. What do you see as the mos...
