Re: 26M Head

Tek; Yes I did install the head & holding tank back in the spring of 2007. I used a Jabsco manual toilet with a 6 gal holding tank mounted under the starboard vee berth. A macerator pump is used to pump the waste to a plastic thru-hull (mounted just below the rub rail). I tapped the thru-hull &a...

Re: Tip of the day ...Post yours

Make sure daggerboard is all the way up before loading onto trailer. Last summer I forgot I had it down 6", and when the admiral was winching the boat onto the trailer there was a "bang". Couldn't see any issue until we pulled up the ramp. The cross bunk on the lh side near the axle w...

Re: Got ballast?

We always leave ballast in while on the water. We use an anchor sail when moored or anchored. Reduced the swing from near 180 degrees to about 30 deg (15 each way). Sure sleep a lot better even in a 15+ knot blow.

Hi Boblee. I'm not putting drawers in the sliding galley itself, but in the bench under the galley. There is enough room to put a couple of 6" high drawers side by side. The bench seems to be very sturdy and appears to be made of fiberglass about 1/4" thick. I don't think that the drawers ...

Storage

In our :macm:, we usually leave the sliding galley in the forward-most position, and accessing the storage area underneath is a problem. I would like to install drawers in the storage area, but I am wondering about cutting the fiberglass bench. I have used a spiral cutting bit in the dremel for smal...

I also have the Garmin 276C. I'm happy with it for the most part, but here's a question: In order to use the sonar fu@ with this unit, you have to purchase a "sounder module" and transducer, for about another $350.00 (cdn) :!: over and above the GPS. And I have no idea what the power draw ...

Hi Boblee.
Where did you run the fill line for the rear berth flexible tank? How does 80 litres of water back there affect boat trim?

Thanks,
Teejay.

Frank; Blue tequila is very smooth, so we named our blue :macm: after it. Now the admiral is on the hunt for a small infaltable, but it has to be "lime" green of course :D ... I did tie the bridle to the stancion, but next time I'll try a longer rope and go to the rear cleat. Randy; We gen...

I picked up the Coleman water heater from Can Tire when it went on sale this spring. We jsut dropped the pump into the lake and fired it up. The water was heated up nicely for doing the dishes. I like Jack Sparrow's installation, just not sure I want to cut that big of a hole in the cockpit floor. :...

Great Wkend Anchored!

Finally got out for the first time this year. Spent Saturday and Sunday on beautiful Shuswap Lake. Winds about 7 to 10 kts, overcast with the odd light rain shower, but it couldn't dampen our spirits! Found a nice spot to anchor for the night but just after dinner the winds picked up quite a bit. Th...

Thanks for the link, Frank. That is definatly a modification I would like to pursue. As we trailer our :macm: the boom is on and off a lot. MY Hobie 16 had a sliding gooseneck and I was wondering if it was possible on the Mac.
Thanks again. :)

M Wiring Woes

Picked up an all-round LED bulb for the interior lights from a trucker supply outfit. Just wanted to see how much light it put out, replacing the 1141 stock bulb. Popped off the lens, stuck the LED in, no light. Hmmm. Put the 1141 back in, lit fine. Ah ha! Seem to recall that LED's are polarity sens...

Last fall, the Admiral and I finally decided to take the Mac Plunge, and ordred the new :macm: from the Vancouver BC dealer. Having visted his tiny shop several times, he seemed to be very knowlegabe. We orderd the boat and was told April 2006 delivery would not be a problem. Well, April came and we...

Thought about that, but I'd hate to have to clean the interior of the boat if the hose "dribbled" . If the thru-hull got clogged, a piece of wire would clear it with a minimun of mess, and it would be outside.

26M Head

My winter project is installing a proper head & holding tank in our :macm:. As we mostly sail in inland lakes that may not have pump out facilites, I will be pumping the holding tank out into an RV sani station on the way home. A macerator pump connected to the tank and to a 3/4" discharge ...
