Re: Maiden Voyage Advice and Tutoring UK
Thanks guys, I was thinking of a bit of large pond sailing to get used to it, take it out on the lake on a fair day and get used to the feel of it. The shallow draft means I'll be able to launch at my local lake although it will look odd next to the dinghies. It is a very small lake but gets some go...

Maiden Voyage Advice and Tutoring UK
I'm currently looking at buying a Mac 26M. My main experience was dinghy sailing, Topper and Enterprise and the odd hire sail when on holiday. I was also the 2IC of a sailing club with access to several pool boats in Gosport. The area sailed was mainly the South coast and the Solent so the tidal pul...

Re: Any Experience of a C 220 Towing?
I'm the only one that wants to sail and being a little pragmatic I consider the costs, sail sounds better than fuel! The kids are excited about wake boarding, and skiing, and diving, and going away for a couple of weeks at a time and every good weekend (minimal in the UK). Two adults, three teenager...

Re: Any Experience of a C 220 Towing?
Having spent the afternoon looking at the M class, X5's and L200's, reading further on the MB and the UK tow sites, it appears that the following weights are for my present car. Kerbweight (Kg) = 1716 85% (Kg) = 1458.6 Towing Capacity (Kg) = 1900 Towing Capacity ( Lbs ) = 4188 Taking into considerat...

Re: Any Experience of a C 220 Towing?
Alternatively, have you looked at the real Mac Trailer Sailer, the Classic ? She weighs less, sails pretty well but doesn't motor as fast. Thanks for the advice. I'm the sailor, the Admiral and crew prefer the power options, the M satisfies us all. I'm told I don't need a car the amount of miles I ...

Re: Height of a Trailered 26M
Thanks all,
It seems I have plenty of room for the boat. I just need to think about the towing vehicle now!
I may have also found the 26M.
I appreciate the swift advice.
Regards,
Adrian

Height of a Trailered 26M
Hi,
I'm looking to purchase a Mac 26M in the UK. Can anyone give the height of the vessel when on the trailer including the mast (down) for road movement? Also, what is the width and length of the trailer? The official supplier doesn't seem to provide these dimensions.
Regards,
Adrian

Any Experience of a C 220 Towing?
Hi all, I'm new to trailer sailing and am looking at a Mac 26M for family weekends away. I'm landlocked in the Midlands (UK). I have a C Class 220 (2200 CC) Diesel. Has anyone experienced or have any views on the towing capabilities of this vehicle with a Mac? I need to fit a tow bar and electrics, ...
