Re: Sound baffling for the motor

I have a 2000 model Nissan 50 2 stroke and although it is noisier than I want it to be I just don't get the noise that you guys are getting? At 5-6knots I can still easily have a civil conversation from the captains seat, maybe the BF50 is just a loud motor?? I dunno, I'm more interested in getting ...

Re: It's why they call it sailing...Not cruising

Rick made a sudden and unexpected departure from sailing, he sold his boat around the last post date, I never really found out why but have my thoughts on the matter which were personal to Rick and should probably remain unknown. However I never heard from him again and suspect he won't return to sa...

Re: Research

Hi Kevin, Yes that was a while ago now, it was a nice day and great to have a fellow Mac owner aboard. Do say hi to Jan and the boys for me, I am not sure I will visit the States for a while yet due to covid and the fact that I have returned to university (yes at my age, never too old) to obtain a B...

Re: Research

Hi Paul,

I'm out in mine all next week (after Easter) and you're welcome aboard, all you have to do is get yourself up to the Sunshine Coast.

Cheers, Dennis.

Re: Lighting protection

LOL, Why oh WHY would anyone want to attract lightning to their boat?????? Your mast is currently insulated and isolated from a lightning strike, just park close to a yacht with a higher mast if you are worried.

Re: Trailer grease nipples

I'm no authority on grease nipple sizes but I own an older American car and the grease nipples on that are exactly the same size as my current Japanese car, maybe your grease gun is worn? Test it on some other vehicle first? If all else fails just buy a handful of new grease nipples from a car parts...

Re: 26x Offshore capabilities - Newbie

LOL, don't listen to the naysayers, no these are not blue or green water boats but they are very capable in a three or four foot swell, the worst I have been in is 2 meter swell (about 6-7 foot) and was not in fear at all, they are very sturdy and slam down the face of a big wave well, I wouldn't su...

Walk through transom usage

Watching one of the original Macgregor 26X promotional videos the other day and they said something that surprised me, they said that the concept behind the tilting captain seat and walk through transom was for easy boarding while at dock, simply step off the dock on to the transom and walk aboard. ...

Permission issue

Hi Mods, I have a weird problem, I have been a member of the Australian group for many years no problem, however just now I have no permission to access it when I am logged in, if I stay logged out I can read it no problem? Any ideas? Cheers, Den.

Re: BWY Mast Track Gate Cover

That's odd, it works for me, oh well, doesn't matter, every chandler has them, try this one https://www.sailrite.com/Sail-Track-Stop-Round

If that doesn't work just google "Sail Track stop", many come up when I do it, go to Google images and you will see them.

Cheers, Den.

Re: BWY Mast Track Gate Cover

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you are after but I cant imagine why you would go to that much trouble when you can just buy one of these, I have been using these for years and they are perfect.

Re: 26M Better than 26X?

I'll say it, no one else wants to, the X is better than the M, there, I said it. :D Now for why (for me).... I live in a tropical area, cabin size is moot, here we spend far more time in the cockpit, therefore, a bigger (and it is much bigger) cockpit is relevant to us here. Next, easier access to t...

Re: Fiction: Lost in the Pacific

Have a look at these guys and what they achieved in the early 70's, they landed right where I live and we have named parts of our local area after their rafts and crew. In fact I launch my yacht just near "La Balsa Park", fascinating story and truly gutsy (albeit psycho) effort by these gu...

Re: Photos - Summer 2019

Here's my favourite place I visited this summer (so far, still summer here), it is south Moreton Island, Queensland Australia, a place called the big sand hill. My boat is in the middle of the second picture, the water is soooo blue and sand is sooo white, even better than the pictures. https://driv...
