Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
There was an older prout cat in a yard I visited recently. It's about four times the everything that my Mac is except five times the speed. It's also about four times more then I could safely handle by myself. The speed is very attractive however. Re million dollar yacht dude, he was probably appro...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Hey guys...just stumbled across this old post, figured I'd update it. So, I did pick up this Endeavourcat 30 and sold the MacGregor 26X...and haven't looked back. I love this boat! In making a careful purchase with a marine survey, etc., I ran into a lot of delays in completing the deal. For instanc...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Hey guys...so, yeah, marine survey done. Hull is in great shape, lots of minor things that need repair (many of which I already knew about). The head needs a little work, but seller is working on that. Biggest issue: The diesel fuel tank has a slow leak...it's rusted around the bottom (steel tank) a...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
So...I've got an accepted offer. I'm driving up this weekend to do a water-test and check out all the on-board systems. Current plan is to get a scuba diver to take a quick look underwater at the hulls, and get a minimal in-water survey of any concerns I find this weekend and overall for anything I ...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Hey...yeah, based on some of the pics and some other considerations, I am planning to get at least a basic survey at this point.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Lots of "weather helm"?
Great post! A brief summary...weather helm can be controlled in a number of ways. Reducing mast rake is one of them. Excessive heeling causes weather helm (the resulting asymmetric hull shape in the water “plows” the boat sideways) so the same techniques you use to reduce heeling will also reduce we...

Re: Lots of "weather helm"?
Ah...too much rake meaning the angle aft is too much?
So, how do I adjust this? Let the backstay out some, of course. With the roller furler, I'm not sure how I'd shorten the front stay?

Lots of "weather helm"?
Did a few hours of sailing on the Cape Fear river today! The wind was blowing around 15-20 knots I believe, with some occasional gusts of more. I probably averaged about 4 knots up the river (presumably against the current), and hit 7.5 knots a few times on the way back (presumably with the current)...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Alex, are you serious about that? I would definitely need some help moving it to NC...I'm not experienced enough to attempt that by myself. I got a quote from a licensed captain to come help me...not exactly cheap. :o It's about 235 nautical miles I believe. The easiest thing to do would be just pay...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Hey, what could go wrong?! Wow, looks like there might be more to deal with hear than previously suggested. How does a person know when it's the right time to walk away? (Never bought a used boat before). LOL. Is this sarcasm, or are you being sincere? How do you know when it's time to walk away on...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
As I understand it...the Yanmar diesel outboards were only sold in the US for a couple of years as OEM equipment primarily. The US banned them from import into the US because they pollute the water (nevermind all the inboard diesels and 2-strokes spewing unburned fuel into the water). I'm sure this ...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Seapup, thanks for those pics! I'm trying to remember (it was a week ago that I went and examined the boat initially)...was the mast pic taken by opening one of the compartments on the bow? IIRC, the mast footing doesn't sit on top the cabin...it goes to the bottom of the bridgedeck, right? A prior ...

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Same boat. Cool. Please don't take any negative comments about the boat personally. Of course not! That's why I asked. I looked it over for about 1.5 hours, so I'm sure there's plenty I missed. You know the good points, so here are some of what I noticed....All electronics, wiring, fuel, wat...

Re: Electric winch in anchor locker for raising mast?
That sounds like a challenge.
That small ladder isn't easy to get up on without heavy scuba gear on. Maybe a block-and-tackle connected to the boom? Tie it to your BC, then pull yourself up? Re-use the 26X block-and-tackle from the stock mast-raising kit.

Re: Thinking about snagging an Endeavourcat 30 catamaran...
Hey Seapup...yes, I have. And the pic you posted sure looks like it. Lickety Split in VA? Yanmar diesel outboard on a fixed motor mount? (That's the worst thing I saw...I know there are jackplates to add hydraulic lift to that heavy motor, but I know they ain't cheap either). How well did you look i...
