Re: Should I remove bottom paint??

More important than bottom paint is the barrier coat.Fresh water will permeate quicker than salt water through the gel coat.In regards to anti fouling, use a paint designed to dry out of the water if trailerd without losing its anti fouling capabilities. Not knowing what is on the boat would dictate ...

Re: Help needed - leading main halyard aft to cockpit

If you really want to raise & Lower the Main with ease as well as reef with ease from the cockpit is to install a lazy jack system of your choice I prefer a max pac system. The key is the downhaul method as the slugs (track slides) will foul UNLESS Harlin Bat Cars are used. They are pricey but t...

Re: propane stove bottle storage

Hang a 10# aluminum bottle off the stern rail with or without an enclosure. Note: Use only U.S.C.G.approved gas hose with approved gas connections NOT HOSE CLAMPS and you will be fine for several weeks of fuel.

Re: trailer + boat lenght?

my 2013 Dodge Journey towed my 26 m from Atlanta to Tampa and back no problems with transmission temperatures within normal range The journey reads the trany temp if you desire. I did however beef my Dodge pick up with a larger torque converter and trany cooler for long hauls and mountain towing. I ...

Re: mast rasing device failure

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR INPUT. The Mac dealer replaced the entire device because the clutch system did actually fail at lowering!. My wife was at the winch when it let go and I tried to hold the roller but when the mast was going down I could not hold it. The consequences were I went flying ove...

Re: mast rasing device failure

Tanks for all of the information. The failure was to the braking of the winch that would not hold the mast after the weight of the roller &. the forstay attachment being released. The new winch will have a positive brake rather than the O.E.M. clutch type. We are still new at this trailer riggin...

Re: Notes on using a single battery

Power management for cursing is as important as fuel & maintenance management.A duel battery system is very necessary if you are a heavy AMP user IE. auto pilot/VHF/Running Lights/Chart Plotter & Sonar/Radar/refrigeration/ water pump /water maker/Cabin Lights and other options some of us exp...

I considered a C head until I understood the Canadian Law that wont accept them. As I understand the Canadian Marine Law the head must have a holding tank with pump out ability. If I am mistaken please reply.

Re: Charging batteries while underway with an E-Tec

Your. thoughts of switching from # 1 to # 2 batteries are correct. However your AGM's are not getting a full charge especially if they are deep cycle. You must put twice the amount of AMPs used to stay even. Example a 50 amp charger will only give you approximately 25 amps of recharge in 1 Hr. My su...
