I am considering making a whiskerpole to make wing on wing sailing a bit easier.
How long should a whiskerpole be on a 26X with a roller jib? Did anyone make a whisker pole him-/ herself?

Re: Shroud tensioning
Just as an additional safety measure to prevent the mast dropping on my head I have installed a second safety shroud Attached to the top of the mast and forward pullpit and parallel to the furler withoud tensioning it.
That will give me more time to take (avoiding) action.

Overnight sailing
Are there MacGregor sailors who have experience in overnight sailing? I would like to experience an overnight sail on Lake Huron in my 26X with 2 crew. The boat has an autopilot installed, and mainsail with 2 reefpoints. No radar or the ais.

Re: Missing flotation styrofoam
How about spraying/pouring building/insulation foam into milk/orange juice jugs as to avoid a mess and compression issues.

Re: Raymarine EV-100 Wheel Pilot -Mac26X
Sorry for the late reply. The remote control, I have one on a wristband and another one inside the cabin, sends a signal to a receiver which I have installed in the binacle. The install is simple…I did it in 1 hour and I am not handy at all.

26X Deck thickness at the bow.
I am looking at installing an anchor roller(longer type) , and am ondering about the thickness of the deck in that area in regard to the bolt-lenghts to be used. I’ll be installing it slightly off-center on starboardside close to forestay/furler attachment point and inside of starboard bow cleat.

My lucky day.
What a surprise I got today while cleaning up the garage. I found an unopened bag with” M-26X JIB RF” written on it. In it a brandnew, see picture, I think roller furler jib for my 26X. It has been laying in the garage unoped since 2014. As I mantioned in an other post my 150 furler genua is in tatt...

Re: 26X headsail and mainsail question
Thank You all for Your kind and valuable input. It makes my decision-making so much easier based on the experience in this group. I will go with loose foot main and furling jib. Now it will be figuring out how to adjust the single line reefing . Maybe guiding the existing setup to the second reef an...

26X headsail and mainsail question
Do any of You have experience with a loose foot/ropeless foot main sail with a single outhaul slide ,vs. The standard rope-in boom mainsail. One of my main worries is that a single outhaul slide might break under a heavy load. I have a 21 year old standard single reef mainsail which needs replacing ...
