Re: A boat is a good thing to have in the event of a zombie apocalypse

Heck YES! One of the best boat Zombie books ever says so. Under A Graveyard Sky by John Ringo https://www.audible.com/pd/Under-a-Graveyard-Sky-Audiobook/B00HEP7L9C Highly recommend it for Zombie sailing entertainment. Actually a MacGregor is perfect since it can out run bandits! (recommend a 50 cal ...

Re: "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated"

“It’s not the size of the boat it’s what you do with it.”

Great news to hear that they will be in production again soon. I like the idea of the 22’ should be a lot easier for single handed trips.

My question is will Billy put a 140hp on the 22’?

140lb 9hp long tail motor for emergency kicker?

Evening All, I had motor issues last season, luckily nothing major, got back to my slip without BOAT"tow"US this time :) It made me think I REALLY need a kicker motor. Was thinking about a Lehr long shaft propane outboard on a kicker motor mount. Afterall, wind, gas, and propane would make for good ...

Re: casual but careful sailing

Great post! I have yet to embark on my sailing journeys but what I'm looking forward to is exactly what you describe. "Pay a lot of attention to safety, just not performance, definitely not racing." Simply want to cruise, relax and slow down! After 25 years in IT I've experienced enough time in nano...

Re: What to check on a used 26X?

Having purchased a '96 :macx: not too long ago there are a few things I've had to repair that are pretty common issues. The good news is so far the parts haven't been to expensive, too hard to find or replace and the help and advice here is priceless!!! I decided to get a boat that needed work speci...

PARTS: Throttle and Shift Cable 1996 26x

Just wanted to share to hopefully save the next guy some time since it appears these tend to get worn out a LOT, mine did! No reverse = no bueno :!: http://www.geraghty.us/cable.jpg Ordered these cables from Amazon for my :macx: for $32.54 each. Search = 15' SeaStar CC230xx 3300 Series Standard Cont...

Any chance you can post a photo of it? I'd love to see the setup.
Thanks!

Re: Anyone ever remove the pedestal on a 26x?

Well it is definitely glued down. Bolts removed but won't budge. I might try chiseling around the edges to see if it loosens but will probably do more damage. I especially don't want to gouge the deck. In another post I read some European models had the battery in the pedestal. (if my memory is corr...

Anyone ever remove the pedestal on a 26x?

Hi All, The previous owner turned the pedestal of my :macx: into swiss cheese. Holes everywhere for equipment that was removed. Its ugly! I'd like to remove the pedestal and reglass all the holes and generally fix it up in the comfort of my shop. I removed the bolts but its either glued or glassed t...

Re: Table/Bench Seat Mod

I like the idea of asymmetrical table. Could possible do fold up hinged table?

I went round for two reasons.
1. people sitting on the port side bench seat can set a drink on the table
2.Lowe's had it in stock 8)

Axle Rust

Haven't had my 96' :macx: very long, so I'm learning the ropes. Bought it as a fixer upper and knew there were plenty of issues. I wanted to learn by repairing and I've been going to school a lot on this project! Boat had sat a long time when I bought it. Bottom was kinda trashed, scrapes, some bubb...

Table/Bench Seat Mod

My 1st Mod, other than replacing the bulbs with LCD bulbs... Idea: When not needed, remove the factory table and add more seating for lounging and relaxing. Mod: Added a bench seat and cocktail table than can be raised and lowered. Here's a photo of the unfinished 1st fit. http://geraghty.us/tablebe...

Re: The trouble with dry docking no electricity

I use a coleman solar charger as well, has a long cord! Northerntool.com has a sale right now, 2 for $25ish. I also use a quick disconnect on the battery so there is zero draw while I'm away. I keep a spare battery on board. I swap them out from time to time. Lastly, I can always run my battery tend...
