Re: Blowing down the ballast

I'm reading everyone's replies and still didn't answer his question. I use a high volume inflator to drain my ballast tank at the dock sometimes and the key is to put a rubber bushing on the blower nozzle so it creates a good seal on your air vent (if you don't have the hose extension) and Only ope...

Boat's Planned Mods

Boat , I am sure I am not the only one , that has been trying to get the solar and refrigeration mystery. For my boat and now as a replacement for the RV refer that just went bad, have been looking for a better replacement to the gas/elect, high cost system in the camper now. I would like to have th...

Re: Novice Mac 26M Owner/Furler Pin Movement

I added a eyelet to top of the mast and run a 1/4 inch line from it to the bolt where the mast mounts for road travel, that is my safety line. I did just replaced the forestay with the BWY up graded forestay, and made new standing rigging myself. Should be good for another 15 years.

Re: Fuel filter placement?

Should a water separating fuel filter be placed before or after the primer ball in the fuel line to the motor? I mount my filter after the primer ball, for two reasons, the primer ball seems to let dirt ( if you have any in the fuel ) settle in it, and when changing the filter you can use the prime...

Re: Swimming deck, or platform?

The Admiral is in overall very happy with the boat (especially regarding the cabin space) though she told me two things could be better: firstly that she felt pretty far from the water and couldn’t just lazily dip her fingers when the sailing was quiet, secondly that Macgregors don’t have a swim de...

Re: 26m Docking advice and suggested reference videos?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned, put a cleat amidships on the side you expect to be your "slip side. When approaching, have a line on the cleat and (I under a boathook pole) pass a loop around a slip post, stancheon, etc, then simply draw it tight as a temp. measure, after which you connect all ...

Re: Question on Standing rigging ?

Thanks for all the input , I have turnbuckles on a small sailboat and they are very easy to adjust. That was the reason for the question, and I plan on replacing my standing=g rigging soon. Looking at all options.
