Sail luff friction in mast slide - solutions Pressure reducing slide?

Hi,
I am getting severe sail luff friction in the mast slide by the full length batten. It is really difficult to get up our down.

Has anyone tried a pressure reducing slider to solve this problem like this?

Thanks

Re: attaching a skeg?

Does anyone have an opinion on one skeg vs two.

Is two better than one in terms of performance?

One would certainly be easier to install?

advice on new sails for 26x

We are considering getting new sails and had some questions. 1) Is the jib on a stock macgregor 26x 95%, 100% or 105% 2) For the main, do you recommend standard (partial battens) or some full battens? 3) Are there any other options that you recommend? 4) Do the stock main sails come with a cunningha...

attaching a skeg?

In the former mods section of the board there were some good examples where skegs had been attached to the last few feet of a mac just beyond the last bunk in the trailer. Does anyone have advice / photos on the optimum thickness (1/4 inch?)/ shape for a skeg and how to attach ? I assume west marine...

any mods / suggestions for reducing heel in a 26x?

Hi All, My family hates it when my 26x has significant heel. I want to investigate ways of having more pleasurable family cruising. I assume I could fill the centreboard with shot to increase the fixed ballast and that may reduce heel. I also assume outriggers could virtually eliminate heel. Any oth...

Re: Winged keel

very cool, does anyone know if this attached to the hull at the same place as the stock swing keel?

it would be great if we could find more pictures of this winged keel

I assume as well as better pointing ability this may be heavier than the stock swing keel too and help with stability?

Re: amas (outrigger on a mac 26)

on the site above MadMike writes "Outrigger specifications: 2 x Stock 18' x 26" Dia. Has anyone tried this?

Re: Modifications for stability in rough water

Thanks for all the input and questions. I was out in rough weather in my X using the outboard (not sailing) with the wind and large waves hitting me from behind at angle just off the stern. Each wave momentarily increased the speed by 5 knots, but made steering very difficult as the waves turned the...

Modifications for stability in rough water

Are there any modifications we can make to make our macgreggor power sailors to make them more stable in rough water? I realise to have the option of speed that we have planing hulls where most dedicated sailboats have displacement hulls and displacement hulls are more stable (but so much slower!). ...

picture of installed sail pro auxiliary outboard on Xor M?

I am about to buy a 6hp Tohatsu Sail Pro (25 inch long shaft) as an auxiliary for my X and a picture would really aid installation. Does somebody have a picture of their auxiliary outboard mounted on an X or M that they could share? Ideally a Sail pro picture would would be fabulous but any auxillar...
