Re: Will a Macgregor 26C be a good fit for me?
4 adults and 3 kids....... Hard question to answer. I've done daysails with up to 4 non-sailing adult neighbors. The biggest issue was keeping them out of the way when it was time to maneuver. The younger adults were easy. I simply tossed a 200ft, 1" floating line off the stern and they all jum...

Re: Why Do We Need Foam
So far I have not removed any of the factory foam on 'boat', it's all still there. OK, now that we have heard both sides of the original question, I have to ask; when was the last time anyone actually checked their foam? A couple years back, I dug into the nether regions between Mistress' hull and ...

Hello buck_justice and Rubicon!
You aren't the only Mac sailors around S.A. I'm in the Bandera area and primarily sail on Medina Lake. "Mistress" is a 1990 26S.

Re: Prop protector guard - good or bad?
I had one on my motor last summer. It was built of of layered fibreglass as a winter project. My local lake has a rocky bottom and I wanted something to protect the prop from contact with rocks or logs, and to protect the rudder from contact when I pull the tiller full over. https://scontent-dft4-3....

Re: Wurstfest Regatta
Ok Texas sailors. We have a caravan from Dallas down to Canyon lake for Wurstfest Regatta on November 11th. Bring your boats and enjoy the fun. We have 3 Macgregors heading down Friday morning. Wings, A early D model Crazy Horse, A later D model Laree, A later S model (My boat) Rented Mule, A Viper...

Re: Mainsail handling/canvas
Short version: Can you flake a sail that only has a bolt rope and has not been converted to the plastic guides that go in the mast? Or does it make more sense to get it converted so it's easier to flake? But can you even flake a sail with the bolt rope, or is that just silly? It seems like the bolt...

Re: Mainsail handling/canvas
The top slug hangs up every time I raise the main, but it's the only one I haven't changed yet, as it's sewn in with a canvas web strap instead of the plastic U-clamps with screws that all the others use. I thought I was the only one with that problem. Of course, I've only put my mainsail up once. ...

Re: Anchor and Steaming Lights
I was really disappointed with the anchor light that was originally on Mistress. It was a small BA9S incandescent light. That is the same as an instrument panel light in my car. I replaced it with a BA1156 type LED lamp and base, the same lamp I use for back-up lights on my pick-up. It's economical,...

Re: Wurstfest Regatta
As a note to all sailing on Canyon Lake; we have just received a warning of possible infestation by zebra mussels in Canyon Lake. Apparently, the threat is coming from the north on boats that haven't been cleaned or properly dried. Guaranteed, this is pretty far south for that species, but a bottle ...

Re: 'BOAT' needs your help and advice
"Warmer" huh, okay, I guess that warmer is better right (as opposed to 'colder') but I don't feel any heat or cold from the dash so I am missing something that others can see. I guess i will continue in WOOD, I was looking at this Bayliner and he had the carbon dash so I thought that was ...

Re: Buyer Beware!!!
I had similar silly paperwork issues with Texas Parks & Wildlife. I bought and registered Prindle 16 catamaran in 88. It was in storage from '89 to '92, then again from '93 to 99 when I retired from active duty. Sometime between '93 and '99, TPWD decided that 16ft sailboats needed hull numbers. ...

Re: New Orleans/Lake Pontchartrain Winter/Spring Sailing
Now considering a move somewhere within a 100 miles, close to good sailing. Any suggestions? :? :macx: I would suggest Corpus Christi Bay, but that's a stretch for "within 100 miles". Have you considered Toledo Bend Lake on the Texas/La. border? I haven't been there in a couple decades, b...

Re: Wurstfest Regatta
That sounds like a plan! Canyon Lake was where I cut my teeth learning to sail my Prindle 16 Cat back in '87.
I hope I can remember that far in advance! I'd love to haul Mistress there and rub elbows with some other Mac sailors.
Is the LCYC near Jacobs Creek and the AFRC Campgrounds?
