backstay location
I am getting a new Bimini made up at a local marine canvas shop on our X, they have all the boom measurements but I just remembered, the backstay runs down to the starboard side, does it interfere with the Bimini? Anyone got measurements for a hole through the Bimini or do I have to wait till mast up?

Re: Anyone ever use the MRS as a come along?
(not wanting to hijack the 'MRS come along' thread) but on the subject of removing spreaders and end caps I noticed while rigging my X on the weekend that the end caps clamp the stays and if uppers are not pre-tensioned there could be a tendency to pull the spreaders down slightly when raising mast ...

Re: Newbie, retrieving a 26x
Thanks guys for the great info. Seems like emptying the ballast as soon as possible before trying to haul is important, specially with a front wheel drive car, but how? I did try and empty the ballast while motoring (we were out without mast to trial the 50hp Merc) in order to get 'with/without ball...

Newbie, retrieving a 26x
We had our new (to us) 97' 26x out for a trial on the weekend and all went well, although took way longer than I expected to prepare and launch and had a problem retrieving. Here's the question: what is the procedure for getting the boat back on the trailer? do I drive it on? do I winch it on? It is...

Re: First Trip of 2016
Congrats, you are instilling confidence in my new (to me) 26x - a single axle trailer and an SUV for 700 miles! There seems to be a lot of concern about single axles being capable and the towing capacities of SUV's in general.

Re: proper outboard and propeller mac26X
I am in Lake Ontario, so consider sea level. How will I use the boat? well, as background I have for years with a traditional keelboat been tied to a short sailing distance from dock (for a working guy with only weekends or a couple of weeks in the summer for cruising), so I'm looking forward to get...

Re: proper outboard and propeller mac26X
I'm relatively new to the group (and the Mac 26x) although sailing mono's and cats for years, so forgive me if the discussion has already come up, I have searched and not found specific to my engine. My 26x has a Mercury Force 50hp with a severely dinged up prop, what is the best recommendation pitc...

Re: Water in stern hinging seat of 26x
Thanks all,
I have since noticed a little water sloshing in the hatch board, also seems bizarre, I'll drill a couple of holes in the bottom and check the seams on this as well.

Water in stern hinging seat of 26x
I'm the new owner of a 97' 26x. Looking forward to getting her into the water in a few weeks. I heard some water sloshing around in the stern hinging seat when lifting, I drilled a couple of holes and a fair bit of water came out. Where does it get in? no possible entry point I can see. Anyone else ...
