Re: Buyer Beware!!!
Got a buddy in Mount olive. He close enough to go sailing with you? Mount Olive University? It's about and hour and fifteen minutes from Jacksonville, NC, where I am. He'd be welcome to come down. Hopefully, people can learn from others' experiences and not make the same mistakes (or at least not b...

Buyer Beware!!!
I bought my :macx: last spring, and would like to share a story so others may avoid my plight. I had two boats in mind to buy, but the one that I got had a nice galvanized trailer, a bigger 90hp engine, and was slightly cheaper. I went to South Carolina to buy it from a nice family. They had bought ...

Re: Heading to the Keys
That is a great (and cheap) place to stay. My wife, three kids, and I stayed on a :mac19: that we had a couple years ago. You can leave your alarm clock behind and be awakened by the soothing sounds of F-18s. We loved it down there. Though our boat looked big on the trailer being pulled by a minivan...

Now imagine all the lurkers (I was one for a couple years) who read the forum but never even join the site. How many of those are out there?

Re: Mac 19 powersailer--never heard of it
We had one, and liked it. At the time we got it, I wanted a MacGregor 26, but did not have the cash. I found a :mac19: for sale and the price was right. You get a lot of the same great features of the :macx: in a smaller package. My wife and I spent a few days on it with 3 small children in the Flor...

Re: Charleston, SC Advice Wanted
Thanks, cptron, for the info on the boat ramp. I see you are from Hattiesburg. I'm originally from Picayune, just a little south of there.

Re: Charleston, SC Advice Wanted
Bahama Bound, we may take you up on that offer. Sorry for the late reply, but we've been vacationing in the mountains as a family. Also, I think you are the one I bought my boat from a couple months ago! We are planning on going down that way on Saturday.

Re: Charleston, SC Advice Wanted
You can launch at Remley Point (see map). We usually stay at City Marina or Charleston Harbor at Patriots Point. http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/k606/NCSail/Charleston%202014/Charleston.jpg Did you leave your vehicle at the boat launch overnight, or did someone in your group drive it somewhere ...

Re: Another New 26X Owner
Erik, I've seen your boat on craigslist and have often showed it to my wife to show her the boat's potential. I haven't been to New Bern yet, but my wife has, and she loves it. We went to Beaufort, NC this past weekend for a day sail. It was fun to pull up to the docks there and eat at a restaurant....

Thank you both for the information. I will check out those marinas and active captain. We're looking forward to the trip.

Charleston, SC Advice Wanted
Hello! My family and I are planning on driving down to Charleston and staying a few nights on the boat this summer. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions regarding a ramp to put in or a marina to stay at? I've googled a few of the marinas, but wanted to get some opinions of the fine sailors...

Re: Another New 26X Owner
Thanks for all of the warm welcomes. Dave, I will probably end up messaging you at some point as I transform the good boat I bought into the great boat I want it to be. The previous owner had good ideas on functionality, but the end results were not the most polished.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Re: Another New 26X Owner
I'm in Jacksonville, NC Welcome aboard! 8) I have enjoyed my 98 X for 13 years now. I think you will find it a very accommodating and flexible boat to have and use. Based on your previous experience, you may find a bit of a learning curve both in her sailing characteristics and in keeping the vario...

Re: Another New 26X Owner
We keep getting more children and the original ones are taking up more space, so the move to the 26 is nice. We took it to see the Blue Angels a couple weeks ago, and having the extra space made for a nice evening.
Also, we had pizza last night, where were you guys?

Another New 26X Owner
Howdy! I recently purchased a 1997 :macx: , and decided to join this fine forum, after a couple years of lurking. I had a :mac19: for a little over a year, and always looked on here for good ideas on where to put holes in my boat. I'm in Jacksonville, NC, and I'm enjoying the extra space on board fo...
