Re: What did you pay for your Mac?
We bought Last Flight in 2006. She is a beautiful 2002 26X. We had been looking for a year or two for a Macgregor. We had visited 26Ss, 26Ds, 26Xs and 26Ms . We liked the Xs and the Ms but didn't want to spend that money. We looked at a 26D at a Yacht Club in Columbia, S.C. Admiral did not like the ...

Re: An alternative to the bump
It seems that the bump is necessary due to the location of the winch. It is below the bow eye on my X when the boat is on the trailer correctly. Tightening the strap as the trailer is loaded pulls down on the bow and makes it impossible to pull the bow forward. It increases the load and friction def...

Re: Found a mast from Mac 26 - What's an honest price?
I bought and sold one for $300. Got it for a spare but figured I'd never use it so sold it on the board here to a sailor in Texas.

Re: Crabbing
Years ago I was stationed on Annette Island in SE Alaska. There was a large bay in front of where we lived. Every once in a while there would be a large minus tide, maybe -18, -20, -22 feet. When that happened the seaweed would gently lay down so that it looked like a putting green. Except, there wo...

Mike says
Cause the original is FREE and just about as easy. You pull a pin to rotate the wheel, I pull a pin to remove the wheel. Not a lot of difference.
dont know why anyone would have anything else, just so easy

Re: 26 X Clanking Centerboard
IIRC, When I reworked our centerboard, I used a piece of 1/2" copper water pipe as a bushing. I fit exactly and reduced clunking.

Re: Crunch!!!
You could be right. I don't have the advantage of your book. The online site for Don Casey at boatus, http://www.boatus.com/boattech/casey/fiberglass-repair.asp states, Fabric Cut sufficient fiberglass fabric to fit the hole. Unless you have reason to follow a different schedule, begin with two laye...

Re: Crunch!!!
I don't want to start a verbal war and disagreeing with such a notable and experienced sailor as Ixneigh is questionable. But, in researching a similar repair on a stink pot, I found different information. In fairness, the repair was eventually done professionally. Ixneigh wrote But you want a large...

Re: What is this hole above my rudder attachments?
Do both rudders have that hole? I'm guess it was for a depth sounder and/or a speed pickup wire. Do you have either or can you see where either might have been in the past?
Interesting anyway. Let's see what more knowledge folks offer.

Re: Jib Halyard Block Interference w Furler?
Had the same issue. I only use that block to raise and lower the sail cover and with the mast raising system. It was probably originally designed for use with hank-on sails. To relieve the problem and make the cover fit better I added an additional attachment ring (brain fart just now, can't think o...

Re: How do I pull further onto the trailer?
The stock trailers I have noticed have a winch mounted below the boweye of the boat when the boat is all the way forward. Pulling the cable/rope/strap tight before doing the "bump" is counterproductive. It pulls the boat down tighter on the bunks. To make the "bump" easier, loose...

Re: Interesting charger option
I built one years ago when I first started with a travel trailer. I took a 3 1/2 hp horizontal engine and added a 35 amp alternator. Worked like a champ. Very fast charging but loud as a lawn mower. Finally, one year NAS Key West campground pulled a DB meter on me and told me I couldn't use it. Not ...
