The issue with a rivet is the height of the plastic cleat. Do not think the rivet would expand past the metal.
A riv-nut.
That seems like the proper solution.
Now I just have to learn how to use them.
Thanks dmclemore!

Type of screw into boom.
I want to add some Nylon Cleats to my boom.
Far enough in that I doubt I could add a nut to the back side.
Do I use?
Stanless screws but...
Metal threads with a tap? (metal seems thin)
Wood threads with no tap?
Everything else I add I use rivets.

https://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30638&sid=a48ceabfd44a2dbf6f0556f2e9302f7b OverEasy talks about the sound differences between his Suzuki and a Tohatsu. Looks like it is a 2 vs 4 stroke comment though, simular size motors. I too remember someones comment about RPM/Prop vs s...

Re: Fore/Aft weight balance vs. sailing performance.
I really appreciate all the comments, including the boat prices comments. To those talking about moving weight around: Other than an oversized car battery (never thought to offset that weight), I have nothing in the boat with me. My normal fuel load = two six gallon. Can not remember how much fuel I...

Re: Fore/Aft weight balance vs. sailing performance.
Is that photo with the 30HP? If not, do nothing until the new motor is on the stern. If yes, then sandbags could work. Maybe a heavier anchor :D That is my current setup with the 120. I had thought of bringing it home and adding a "keel" to the boat. Something like a 3 inch rib down the c...

Fore/Aft weight balance vs. sailing performance.
Back when trailer boating, empty ballast, dragging my son on a tube was a major part of our boating, I swapped the origional 50hp honda for an evenrude/johnson 120 with power tilt. I now have the boat in a slip where I never let the ballast out, only use the engine to get in and out of the marina, s...

Re: Fuel Primer Bulb
I agree, not normal, which is why I am asking here. A 3 month old bulb just sprayed me with fuel after my engines float bowl filled. I have been adding SeaFoam to my fuel, but that seems such a normal thing. Only other thing is, I run my carbs empty before leaving the boat by unplugging the line fro...

Fuel Primer Bulb
My fuel primer bulbs are lasting about 3 to 6 months.
They rot out and start spraying me and allowing air into the line.
Regular replacement seems the best answer.
The bulb that came with mine lasted years, so what gives?
What bulbs have you guys been using?
Any last for reasonable times?

Re: WHAT AM I MISSING WHEN MOTORING
for low speeds I use rudder(s) down. So I fixe the motor in middle position and I (or the AP) just steer with the rudders. If I need the OB to turn as well I watch to keep the OB in middle position. As in the steering system there is some play I can correct steering by just turn the wheel ab bit so...

Re: WHAT AM I MISSING WHEN MOTORING
As I was motoring in to my slip down a channel: It occurred to me that I was holding left on the wheel, my experience immediately told me that I had my sailing rudders down, then I remembered this conversation. I believe prop wash will cause a right turning effect if using rudders while powering. Le...

Re: tow boat slip to ramp
Your supposed to dump your ballast water before putting on the trailer?
Then, you can not go pull the "waste gate" and jump out of the way like it is acid to entertain any bystanders.
Make sure to comment about the next rain washing down the ramp.
