Re: Fuel Primer Bulb
I agree, not normal, which is why I am asking here. A 3 month old bulb just sprayed me with fuel after my engines float bowl filled. I have been adding SeaFoam to my fuel, but that seems such a normal thing. Only other thing is, I run my carbs empty before leaving the boat by unplugging the line fro...

Fuel Primer Bulb
My fuel primer bulbs are lasting about 3 to 6 months.
They rot out and start spraying me and allowing air into the line.
Regular replacement seems the best answer.
The bulb that came with mine lasted years, so what gives?
What bulbs have you guys been using?
Any last for reasonable times?

Re: WHAT AM I MISSING WHEN MOTORING
for low speeds I use rudder(s) down. So I fixe the motor in middle position and I (or the AP) just steer with the rudders. If I need the OB to turn as well I watch to keep the OB in middle position. As in the steering system there is some play I can correct steering by just turn the wheel ab bit so...

Re: WHAT AM I MISSING WHEN MOTORING
As I was motoring in to my slip down a channel: It occurred to me that I was holding left on the wheel, my experience immediately told me that I had my sailing rudders down, then I remembered this conversation. I believe prop wash will cause a right turning effect if using rudders while powering. Le...

Re: tow boat slip to ramp
Your supposed to dump your ballast water before putting on the trailer?
Then, you can not go pull the "waste gate" and jump out of the way like it is acid to entertain any bystanders.
Make sure to comment about the next rain washing down the ramp.

Re: toe slip to ramp
The marina does not have a service boat?
Seems one that size should have something to help.

Re: WHAT AM I MISSING WHEN MOTORING
100% agree with Russ on all points, but will add... Normal power boats have chines on the side to help steer the boat, our hull being a sailboat hull might have less resistance to prop walk meaning it will act exactly as you describe even more. Look up how long keel sailboats have to park. The prop ...

Re: BWY Steering Quick Disconnect
I have an X so not the same setup, however, when I was reading your question. I was initially thinking you were leaving the motor locked in position while motoring trusting the rudders to turn, prop wash causing some turning issues. I have been playing with doing that myself, works fine as long as y...

Re: Goseneck
Unusual forces from being trailered with the boom on, or putting it into travel position. I trailered for years that way, even left the mainsail on a few times, did some damage, have it in a slip now. My boom now leans to 1 side, but still does its job. Also managed to screw up the rivets, had to ge...

Re: Interesting swim platform
first 1/2 if the video is a waste of time. Felt like one of those insurance/retirement scams where they get you in a room and talk you to death till you give up and open your wallet. If I were to design/install something like that, I would match the water line of the boat, extending the hull in a wa...

I never learned to read, only write.
I have often thought of improving the baby stay setup, likely simular to what you did.

Re: M mast raising system on a X dimensions
Those pictures seem to be missing the baby stays. Baby stays = connect where the bail is on the mast, down to the boat, exactly in line with where the mast hinges. When I trailered, I left them on for sailing, have them off now that I am in a slip. Highly suggested you use the baby stays as the mast...

Re: New Mainsail for M. Where did You Get Yours
Used Precision sails. I was moving my boom higher on the mast to gain headroom, so was needing a custom size. I also added a track to the mast, so I have real sliders instead of slugs in a slot designed for a bolt rope. This allowed me to purchase a fully battened mainsail. They treat all sails (inc...

Re: Safe to go back in Eagle Mountain Lake - or is it?
I am in a slip at Harbor One. Likely the least $. Only issue = the long finger to get to a main body of water. Eagle Mountiain Marina: When I was trailering, I rented a slip for a week. Immediate access to large body of water, seems to be the main marina for the "Sunex" group of marinas. T...
