Re: What If? What Sailboat Would You Have If Not A MacGregor?
Anything designed by Bill Crealock. Pacific Seacraft boats are a work of art. They're like a beautiful little ship.

26D fairing on engine well
Does anyone have a good idea about covering the seam between the transom and the engine well? Mine is severely cracked and broken and a chunk is missing from it. I covered the defect with Marine tex but I need to actually make something cosmetic. I thought about glassing it over and gelcoating or pa...

outboard for mac classic
I'm beginning the search for a new outboard. I'm tired of the old 1980's model evinrude 2 stroke 9.9 and would like something that has better "torque" and low rpm performance. Plus I'm sick of mixing gasoline. My previous mac 26 back in 87 had a honda and I loved it. I'd like a few people ...

Re: shear pins for kick up rudder
Yeah, I figured plastic was the only way to go. I checked at the local hdware store, but no dice. I'll run down to H. Depot and lowes tomorrow.

Re: Help buying a 89 Macgregor.
I too purchased an '89 mac classic a couple years ago. This was my 2nd Mc. I bought brand new in 87 and sold it in 92. (school tuition, etc, etc. ) Anyway, I got this boat on ebay and went to see the boat before buying. It had several gelcoat cracks in the deck in the cockpit and on the foredeck. Th...

shear pins for kick up rudder
I am looking to replace a couple of shear pins for the kick up rudder on my 26 classic. I have purchased them out of Idasailor marine in Boise, when I got my new rudder about 4 years ago, but I called today and the phone was disconnected. I wonder if they are out of business. I sent an email a coupl...

wheel bearing replacement
Here's a good story: I took my trailer to a local boat bechanic a few weeks ago. He repacked the bearings and replaced a worn inner seal on one of the hubs. I trailered the boat on tuesday about 80 miles. when I got to my destination at Folsmon lake, I placed the boat in the water, parked the truck ...

Re: advice on towing
I have a 2007 26M. I use a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0. I had no issues towing from the NC-VA boarder to Charleston, SC. Truck handled 55-60 mph on both I-95 and US hwys with no issues in OD on flat terrain. no swaying or tugging. I was pleased. thanks for all the advice: Here is what I have done to m...

Re: advice on towing
Thanks for the advice Sumner. It is an automatic. I will watch the temp and am planning on looking into getting a transmission oil cooler installed. Also, I tow pretty much on the flat with some sl hills. You have a good point about not towing in OD too. My tow distance averages about 80 miles. The ...
