Re: Upgrade already?

Not kicking a dead horse, just posting a resolution for future noobs. I did put an offer in on a hunter 33. If I can get it at a decent price, I think it will be a good fit. In the meantime though, I have learned to plan better and most importantly I learned that in many situations, the boat heels a...

Painting Hull

Hi All, My hull is looking tired and abused (from POs, not me, I swear!). I am certain this has been discussed before, but I could not find a straight answer in the forum search. Are there any special methods regarding paint? I have semi-pro experience painting cars, I have done basecoat/clearcoat j...

Re: Upgrade already?

Oh - I am all in! I am fortunate enough to be one of those that never gets seasick. I get a little nervous about spinning around in weather I should not be out in, but luckily I am not making the deck slippery with vomit! The kids are seemingly unaffected. My wife can handle being in the cockpit, bu...

Re: Upgrade already?

All valid points. Proper event planning is probably the best/cheapest solution. I havent had the stones to try planing the boat yet. It is quite squirrely at 6-7 knots with the ballast in and rudders up. I need to just drain the water and just gun it to see how she goes under full power. I have lear...

Re: Upgrade already?

Yeah, I was actually looking at a Beneteau 331 or a Hunter 33. The budget doesn't scare me as much as the rockin'! I do love the mac, especially for introducing me to sailing and good times in fair weather with the family. I have never been one for power boating, so the outboard advantage for me is ...

Re: Upgrade already?

Thanks for the reply! I had pretty much resolved just that - solo the rough stuff and only take the family in fair conditions. My only qualm is that I would like to spend a few days away from the dock once experience allows and I don't want the weather to shift to something that will scare the famil...

Upgrade already?

Hi All, I recently purchased my Mac 26M, and so far I have been having a blast (mostly). I am new to sailing in general, and I assume that I would enjoy whatever boat I happen to be on though. While I am having fun, my family is not enjoying it as much. Really just when we encounter rougher waters, ...
