Re: What can you tell me about the 26D?

I totally concur with the comment on the lazarette. Part of the reason I've been looking for a solution to having to keep the anchor in there. Pain to dig out, especially if we are motoring and need the rudder, and then carry it forward. I did just buy and install the bracket so I can store my danfo...

Re: Bad Time for boats

My lord. Someone could make killing on this. I would gladly pay a nominal fee to assume ownership of a boat in decent shape. If these states would then turn around a sell the title for another $500 they could double the revenue stream. I'd gladly store a nice 40 footer or that cat until I was retire...

Re: Mac 26M or Beneteau Oceanis 40cc or Bavaria 40 mod 97

I haven't been pricing boats in the Med and I'll assume it is more expensive to purchase there (less inventory?). But, from what I've seen those are not great prices for boats of that size and age in salt water. If you need it to already be in the Med then again it could be a good price.

Re: What can you tell me about the 26D?

I bought my first boat (1986 26D) 3 years ago when I got home from Iraq. Have absolutely loved it. Trailers well, fast and forgiving boat. I've been able to do most repairs on my own. Daggerboard is very sturdy. I agree with improving the rudder if you can. I'm still using the original but it would ...

Re: Flooring improvement

I will post as soon as I can. I forgot to mention that these tiles have a rubber extruded ridge grid on the bottom which keeps the wood off direct contact of the deck.

Flooring improvement

Don't think I have enough posts to attach pictures. I just put wood flooring into my 26D. I saw the snap together outdoor wood flooring on HGTV and found several sites through Google. Easy to install and basically no maintenance for the tiles installed in the cabin. At www.decktiles.org there is a l...

Re: 26 classic - dream list

Totally agree on the freezer, but rather than all the other electrical work I've been thinking about the honda camping generator. Like you financing is the killer. But I like the idea of the extra power trading carring only a couple gallons of gas. Which is easy in the lazaret. I could use the gas f...

Re: what size drain plug?

I had this same problem with my 26D. Not sure if the previous owner had worn away the edges over time but a 1 inch plug wouldn't adjust to fit properly. I bought a PVC pip endcap that works like a champ. I believe it was the cap for 1 inch pipe, but with the groves it fits very snug. Just don't jam ...

Re: Honda-10 Outboard trouble

It had been two weeks between last running the motor and this event. I was unable to go up this weekend and try anything.

Outboard trouble

Went out to the boat this weekend and started up my old 1988 Honda 10 h.p. but everytime I rolled the throttle from the start position to the idle position the engine would shut down. It would continue to run if I kept it at a high setting. Everything seemed to be fine when I took the cover off. I m...

Access

Thanks for the post. I've tried to access this area but am unable to find an opening or attachment points. This seems to be one molded piece not a separate panel. I'm really at a loss.

Admiral's Idea

To the two admirals, thanks. If I can't find it at a pet store I sure can make it. I had thought I needed to this for the cockpit drain, but after reading this strand I realize that is not were crap is coming from that clogs that line. I'm tired of manually clearing that line then cleaning the mess ...
