Re: Dimensions of 26M on its Trailer
This really depends on which Wrangler your talking about. If it is a recent model 4 door you could probably make the trip just fine. They have a significantly longer wheelbase than the 2 door. I would still want the boat to be largely empty to keep the way as light as possible. If your talking abou...

Re: Interior Cabin Paint
I finished painting last night as the sun set! I will provide a full set of details (and photos - when I have removed the tape) but wanted to jot down a few bullet points before I forget: Prep: Due to my snafu with the wrong primer, I spent a long 3 days scraping off paint. This was followed by a th...

Re: Dimensions of 26M on its Trailer
Jeff / Tom - thanks for the replies. For now I'll stick to the short drives between my parking spot and the boat ramp. I bought the :macm: as a reasonable entry level overnighter - if it turns out I need to buy a bigger towing beast (and then a house with a bigger garage to house the truck) this may...

Re: Dimensions of 26M on its Trailer
Thanks for the great pic Neo. I have recently had a second axle fitted to my trailer. I have my :macm: loaded pretty much to these dimensions; possibly 0.1m / 4" further forward. Using some 2x4, 4x4, and a bathroom scale, I've determined that my current tongue weight is ~375lb. I'm pretty happy...

Re: Interior Cabin Paint
Quick update: I took the battery cover home to use as my test piece. After scraping, sanding, washing, acetone wipe, and dry I painted it with the INTERLUX–Brightside Pre-Kote Primer as indicated above. As per instruction, I gave it a good stir before starting. The primer bonded beautifully. I have ...

Re: Interior Cabin Paint
Well, as of writing this, the entire interior has been scraped and sanded! And we are still speaking to each other. 80 - 100 grit worked well; it has also ensured that none of our finger recognition devices will accept our finger prints... Christmas Day will be the wash, wipe with acetone, and sand ...

Re: Interior Cabin Paint
Russ, my wife has been incredibly good natured about it. But, I believe that I have used up my error-credits. I am going to have to do my research very thoroughly before I replace the head!
I will sand, wash, and use some solvent to degrease and dewax. Then start over.

Re: Interior Cabin Paint
Thanks everyone for the useful insights. I am going to use Jimmyt's advice and apply the right product for the right application which means use the proper (4x$$$) marine primer (after I have scraped, sanded, and washed all the surfaces). I will let that sit and cure properly before rushing into the...

Interior Cabin Paint
If you love the tan interior color of the Mac then DO NOT read any further... I dislike the tan color; my wife hates it. We agreed before buying the boat that before we replaced the moldy mattress and cushions, we'd paint the inside. I did a *fair bit of internet sleuthing and decided I would prime ...

Re: Fiberglass and rub rail repair advice
The rubrail has been repaired and the boat has been through a few washes and rubs and is looking a lot better. I have also got her fully rigged up and the only thing missing now is the first sail out! I do, however, have a follow-up question: my trailer tongue weight seems to be very heavy. Either t...

Re: Fiberglass and rub rail repair advice
Thanks Russ! Jimmyt, that gel coat will come in handy as part of my winter DIY is to replace some of the cleats with new cam cleats so I will need to fill and patch the old holes. Here's a pic after the first pressure wash: https://i.postimg.cc/LgS8LtnX/665-CF9-DD-6-B18-41-D7-971-D-539363285-FC1.jpg...

Re: Fiberglass and rub rail repair advice
Thanks Jimmyt. The caulk is all over the rub rail but that's coming off today and a new rub rail is going on (professional installation - not DIY). The cracking is only in a few (2?) spots. I'll fill and then touch up with new gelcoat. As I said, a lot of TLC needed so hopefully it all gets done ove...

Fiberglass and rub rail repair advice
Hello everyone. I have now been the owner of a 26M :macm: for almost 24 hours! The boat needs some TLC and I am going to start with a new rub rail and a bit of fiberglass repair. When you guys look at this: https://i.postimg.cc/rKhskfcM/002-B45-AF-41-BC-4154-98-C5-68-E8-E25-DFF7-F.jpg does it look c...
