Re: How long have you owned a Macgregor?
I've owned mine for 5 years now. Researched for 2-3 years before that, trolling popyachts.com often during that time and reading others' adventures here. Bought mine right when COVID became a thing. Bought it (from a definite 6 foot distance) from a retired, masked-up doctor couple that had a summer...

Re: Battery-powered AC on a 26X
Charging up those battery packs via solar during the day when energy is plentiful so you can use them at night without draining the house battery seems ideal

Battery-powered AC on a 26X
I saw this in my YouTube feed today. I didn't realize these kinds of battery-powered AC units existed. What a world we live in! Interesting that he (is he on this forum?) runs it inside the boat. I think if I were to do this I would make a way to mount it outside when in use and feed a tube or two i...

Re: 12 Gallon fuel tanks
BOAT had those aluminum tanks and said he really liked them. He's posted about them on here before. Sadly he's no longer a Mac owner and hasn't been on here for a while. I've been eyeing those for a while, though there is a battery grounding wire you are supposed to attach as well so keep that in mi...

Wish I had done this! (ballast blowout)
Yesterday morning I discovered that my beached :macm: was sitting with its rear end down in some mud. Could be the reservoir drained quite a bit in the less-than-24-hours it was anchored near the shore, or maybe I was too generous with my anchor scope. Either way, it was a beast to push out. A coupl...

Re: Repowering with smaller engine options
impressive that the 20 still gets you 11 knots. I assume that's lightly loaded and with empty ballast? I feel like my loaded down
with a Suzuki DF60A only gets 13 or 14 knots max - not really that much faster. I'll have to jog my memory this weekend when I'm out

Re: Shop Vac for down below?
For me it was worth it in case of a water tank leak or other spilled water situation. Nice to be able to suck a bunch of water up if needed. Plus, it doesn't HAVE to remain in there. When I need more space, I can always leave it out. Another multi-purpose option is the ol' Home Depot Bucket Head. It...

Re: Shop Vac for down below?
..I also have a v20 battery charger permanently mounted on the port side bilge opposite that, connected to an inverter so I can keep that battery topped up especially mid day when I've got more solar coming in than I can use. I keep a drill on board that uses that same battery. I also have a cool li...

Yes, actually I have that same one - almost. I have the Craftsman version rather than the Bauer (Harbor Freight) brand, but I assume it's similar

Re: Our 26X boat tour on the last day of our Powell trip
I bought an older version of this fridge/freezer unit two years ago and have loved it! It is wonderful to be able to make ice rather than consume it. Having solar onboard definitely opens up some nice possibilities

Snow in late June
While the rest of the country seems to be in a heat wave, I got a little bit of snow during my sail yesterday here in Idaho. In late June! https://i.postimg.cc/z3dzbngp/IMG-5542.png Was a good day though! Lots of shifting winds, but just about tied my sailing speed record on this boat. I believe 6.4...
