Re: Is A MacGregor the right boat for me?

OK quick question to all who have commented so far, I have many questions, do I keep tossing them out in this thread or start new one ? First question I assume for my needs a 26 S with a tiller. since that's what I think all S came with ( feel free to correct me) , the 94 I saw for sale is sold and...

Re: Winterizing

When your boats are on their trailers, do you crank up the support wheel at the front of the trailer so the bow sits much higher than the stern? This helps in ballast drainage. Also, do you leave the valve open on the stern? I crank it up all the way but my driveway has a steep incline in the oppos...

Re: Winterizing

Hi Mannyc I’m here in Ontario and understand your concern. Our X sorta does something similar. Really the amount of water in there is well spread out and won’t affect anything.(if frozen) But. I like to get it all out. Park on a grade as you suggest , or jack up your trailer high for awhile and you...

Winterizing

Hey guys, Since this is the first winter with my 26M I am hoping to get a bit of advise on the topic since it is starting to get chilly up here in Canada. In regards to the motor it is only a 9.9hp so I just built a simple outboard mount with casters, my plan is to remove it from the boat and wheel ...

Re: Is A MacGregor the right boat for me?

I have been searching for Macgregor 26 for the past year before picking up mine. In terms of budget @ under 10K it will be extremely rare to find a 26M anywhere near that price point unless its a real fixer upper, but I have noticed they seem to retain their value better than other variants. For the...

Re: Restoring Gelcoat Advice

Still have a few touch up spots left to go on my gently used 2008 26M. I assume it is the same thickness on both the M and X so picture for reference. regular red BIC pen.

Re: Suzuki DF60AV or DF90A ?

Hi All, would appreciate some clarity in the matter as I have seen from most of the form that the DF90A would be a nice choice, but as my Macgregor is already wired with Mercury controls wondering if there is much of a difference between the DF90A and the Merc90. I understand that the Merc 90 is 15l...

new owner

Hi, I just recently purchased a Macgregor 26M and the previous owner has rigged it completely for sailing. My question being as I am completely new to sailing is it safe to raise the mast and main sail/jib sail while the boat is on the trailer in the driveway? I would like to figure out which line p...

Re: Macgregor 26X

I talked to this guy today since he’s just down the road. 8k for boat, no motor or controls. Don’t know why he would put it that way… Advised him on his Year problem. Looks like it’s coming out of a shop on a farm. Could be a real barn find! Motor brand new. Yea, I am thinking about taking it witho...

Macgregor 26X

Hello all, I am hoping to get this forum group expertise on the matter as I came across a Macgregor being sold in US (I am in Canada). It is listed as a Macgregor 26 and from the photos I would think it is safe to assume it is a Macgregor 26 :macx: . The point of confusion I am having is the seller ...

Re: 2003 26M

Not sure if Macwanted87 is picking up the boat. I also talked to the owner and was advised the trailer is brand new and never touched water yet. Although the point of concern is that the sails were not stored and will require new ones, along with the motor not actually working. I was hoping for the ...
