Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Thanks. Interesting fact. I thought all hollow-hulled boats over a certain length had to have bps, even if design specs could prove the hull 'unsinkable."

Prospective X Purchaser
Boat I’m considering apparently just has standard OEM main and jib rigging. Looking for opinions on whether the jib can be managed from the cockpit single-handed. I was thinking it might be essential to have a furler based on my reading and videos. Experienced sailor / sales guy says the foresail ca...

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Have an 2002 :macx: on a perfect day I get 5.5kt under sail. Ive hit 6 a few times briefly but not been able to sustain that. Anything above 4 feels great imho. Thanks for that - very helpful. With all the hoopla about this being such a fast boat for its size, good to receive a bit of reality to ba...

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Thank you for the detailed response. Boat I’m considering has but original stock main and jib. Looks like I won’t be leaving any dolphins in the dust. But that’s OK. First boat with diapers.

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Hull speed; 5.2 - 6.1 knots. Thank you for the input. Mr. Mac always claimed that the 26 was faster than it's peers of similar length; I was thinking that that is because the 26 is perhaps a semi-displacement hull that can plane at a certain speed, and that it has a lower displacement weight than a...

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Outboard spped with a 50 HP outboard is likely to be 12 - 16 knots (water ballast/no water ballast). Was this X previously in Ohio/Indiana? I might be familiar with it. 8) Can anyone give me a ballpark knot reading on this boat’s probable SOG running a Yamaha 50 iron jib - 17°pitch propeller- at WO...

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Can anyone give me a ballpark knot reading on this boat’s probable SOG running a Yamaha 50 iron jib - 17°pitch propeller- at WOT and likely fuel flow at that throttle angle? With and / or without full ballast? Also, what kind of unassisted, strictly sailing speeds am I likely to see with correctly t...

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Thank you for the replies. I have located what appears to be very clean 2002 X. Different questions keep popping up as I evaluate the boat, as I have no experience with sailboats or motorsailers. I look forward to everyone’s feedback.

Prospective X Purchaser
Is the 2002 26X equipped with bilge pumps? If not, are there existing through-hulls on the vessel that can be utilized when I install them?
