Darn Tux,
Appreciate the response!
Your suggestion sounds intriguing though. I didn't want to buy 2 more heavy 12 v batteries that cost $400+ but a 24V lithium ion might be the answer. Might even be able to use in my newly purchased dinghy. I'll check out options for them.

Re: Corsswinds and docking
My M26 has much more difficulty docking in wind than my old S2 7.2. I am seriously considering a bow mounted electric trolling motor to act as a bow thruster to keep the bow pinned to my dock when I dock single -handed, as my Marina doesn't have dock staff. The added advantage is I could use it as a...

Any updates on Meritech sub $600 autopilot?
I may be getting ahead of myself, but I have interest in simple autopilot for my 26M. There are tried and true options for a tiller.
Has anyone heard about production of the sub $600 unit?

Connecting with other 26M coastal sailers in Southern Maine
As a newbie to 26M sailboats (I sailed an S2 7.2 for several years) I would enjoy meeting others in this area! I never had experience with a big outboard or a roller furler, and would love seeing others setups and perhaps having a sailing buddy as I learn the ropes. There was a fellow south of me wh...

Re: Midship docking cleat
Thanks everyone!
Russ, tripping is also my concern with adding stationary cleats. as well as potential interference with any future line hardware.
Hey dlandersson, you have a lot going on your port side. What do you use the double jammers for, and is that line for the furler?

Re: Midship docking cleat
Thanks Jimmy, I visited BWY and learned Macs use 1" tracks. They do see one. Kinda expensive especially with shipping. Tsatzsue, I didn't think of the mast plate. I'll have to experiment with that. I would only be using the rail cleat to catch my dock during single returns so not much stress. T...

Midship docking cleat
I'd like to add a midship docking cleat on my 26M for just when entering my slip. Does it make sense to add a sliding one to the jib rail?
Does anyone know what dimension/how to measure in order to purchase one or any fixtures for the rail?
Thanks

https://i.postimg.cc/MvDsKCtZ/IMG-20250508-115026500.jpg I chose a Battery Tender Jr and slept on my boat for the first time while still on the trailer. It seemed to function well and maybe less chance of "cooking" one battery? Based on the pamphlet in the stack of documents I was gifted ...

Re: Caught in a New Mexico Storm!
Great discussion for a newbie! I used to sail a 7.2M S2 with a 9.9 Merc kicker. I was feeling cocky with a T60 on my new to me 26M thinking I could now out race storms!

Re: 2 battery setup
Thanks all for your sage advice and suggestions for chargers! The 2 battery setup in Wind Dancer WAS added by the dealer as park of his Super Sport package. It has a Blue Sea Systems SI-ARC Automatic Charging Relay with Start Isolation. It doesn't have an A B selector on the power switch but basical...

Re: what can you do with the boom vang and or outhaul?
You have three main sail controls, traveler position, main sheet and main halyard. You can induce twist by droping the traveler to leeward and ease the main sheet and main halyard. As far as the jib is concerned, move the jib car back to induce twist into the jib. Unless you have a good crew on boa...

Re: Auxiliary outboard for 26M
I was thinking along the same lines but with their electric saltwater model. At about 20lbs I could keep it attached to the rail until needed. Wasn't sure that one would fit on the transom either.

2 battery setup
I just purchased my 26M Wind Dancer. It came with a 2 battery setup. Traditionally, is the one on the left side (facing aft) of the compartment the starter engine and the right one house?
Anyone have suggestions for a simple efficient charger?
Much appreciated!

Thanks KURZ!
Not sure I'm up for the plumbing challenge. Maybe placing something like a kiddie pool to catch the water and then carry it out to the cockpit.
