Re: Rigging for assymetrical spinnaker

Thanks Rick. Lots of info. I mount my danforth anchor in a recepticle on the pulpit and am not sure if that would be the best place for the tack block, in that case. I have seen the "TN tacker" advertised on E-bay and wonder if I could use one of these, attached around the furlled jib, tha...

Rigging for assymetrical spinnaker

This has probably been coverd before, but I can't find it when I search. I have a Mac 26X and want to install rigging for a assymetrical spinnaker. The boat has roller jibfurling, so I can't use the jib halyard and I assume I will need tio install a separate pully, cleat and tack block So, what do I...

unless you are real keen Jasper....3.5k miles is a long way to town anything. I would consider trucking and see what it costs I am not so much concerned with the distance, just the time factor. When I bought the boat, I had to tow it 2300km to my home including a 6 hour ferry trip. I did the ferry ...

I am a bit time restricted for the transportation. However, I may consider the extra axle option and tow. My concern was having to tow it for 3,500 miles. I would need to add a couple extra days to compensate for the reduced speed.Perhaps I need to rethink this.

I am moving all the way accross the continent!!!! My schedule will be tight and I am not sure if I can tow the Mac all the way from Newfoundland to Alberta. what I am thinking of doing is to tow the Mac to Nova Scotia then have it transported from there. I must admit, I am not a computer geek. However, I had a problem getting booted off a couple of sites and after I ran spyware and found 160 spyware itmes and deleted them, the problem went away.

hull, these are what the Canadian Navy needs, forget about the frigates.
With these babies, we can go anywhere. We can even use them in winter as armoured toboggans.

4 in the cockpit is more than enough at any time. I have had 5 on board, but it is a pain when tacking, gybing etc. The less bodies the better when sailing, I am comfortable with just 2 or 3.

I keep my boat at the marina in the water all summer. My boat is accessed via a gangway at the bow so I need a clear passage to get to the mooring lines when I get close enough to take them aboard using a boat hook. I need to move quickly in windy conditions and the baby-stays are are just in the wa...

"Why is the boat length added to the rode calculation - it would seem to me that the length doesnt change the angle of the rode to the bottom, so it isnt relevant??? " I haven't seen an explanation, but I am sure there is. However, adding the boat length is in most formulas I have seen. &q...

The figures I gave are directly from the Canadian Power and Sail Seamanship Certification Manual. Chapman's Piloting and seamanship states "under favorable conditions using nylon line, 5:1 might be considered a minimum under average conditions, 7 or8:1 is regarded as satisfactory. Tests show th...

Scope should be at least 5:1 and preferably 7:1 + length of boat at high tide. At 10ft tidal depth, rode at a minimum would be perpendicular distance to bottom from deck cleat =10 + 3.5 x 5 + 26 ft = 113.5ft scope minimum. So at 100ft you may be a bit short. Chain length sounds ok, if you anchored a...

My damage was about half of what is in the picture. I used Marine Tex to build up a slightly bigger than needed repair and sanded it down to original size. The Marine Tex bonded well to the exposed fiberglass. I then used polyurethane spray paint to finish things off...........looks great. I think y...
