Loose Footed Main

I live in Ventura, and have a 26M. I had a custum mainsail made by Gary at Ullman Sails in Ventura. It is a loose footed main with two full battens and two partials. I like it a lot. Better sail shape all the way down to the boom. Fuller roach than the stock main. You can let it in on a reach in lig...

PHRF rating requirements

Yes, it does cost to get your boat rated. Two conditions must exist: you have to be a member of a recognized PHRF participating yacht club, and you have to join PHRF itself for the year. The dues are $50. So, after you join a sponsoring club for ??$$'s, you fill out the PHRF form available on the we...

PHRF Handicap

SoCal PHRF has given the X a 216 rating, which means you lose all races. My experience in the Tri-Point race off Ventura last year was that a Cat 22 smoked me from the start. I have a custom main with a larger roach and loose foot and 155 mylar genoa. I have heard that the low rating came from a win...

Transducer mount

On my M, the transducer is mounted same as above, starboard side inside the rudders. The only thing that does not seem to be reliable is speed over water when sailing due to cavitation turbulance at the stern. GPS readings os speed over land is steady, but water speed bounces around as swells and wa...

I lost my daggerboard also. The washer bent and the washer and knot slipped through the block, and the board went bye bye. My hull is 112, with no safety line. Macgregor sent a new board, cost around $200 plus shipping. Tell Macgregor you have an early boat without a safety line. They reimbursed me ...

Roger Comes Through on Daggerboard

:D :macm: I finally had time to call H&S Yachts to ask them to talk to Macgregor about covering the new daggerboard I had to buy. I was unaware of the safety line on the daggerboards because my boat (hull 112) did not come with a safety line. Therefore, I did not communicate the true situation w...

It turns out that I did not have a safety line on my boat, either. The new board has the second line on it. The hasp with pulley that it passes through does not have a second hole in it for the safety line. I inspected two boats at my dealer, one a new model, and one that is older than mine. The old...

26M Daggerboard

:( A warning to 26M owners: I have a 26M almost one year old. Hull 112. I was sailing at about 6 knots in 15 kts of wind. Heard some thumping sounds on the hull, and saw my daggerboard along side the boat. I was unable to get back into the harbor before both lines attaching the daggerboard broke. My...
