Re: Leaky 26M
I had a similar problem with my '04. I dock on a busy river where there is a lot of waking of the boats while docked. I removed the rub rail partially (along the sides only - left it attached around front & back to ease reattachment) and could see that the hull to deck joint was opening up and a...

Rulan rudder position indicator
Rulan rudder position indicator...pretty expensive for what it is. Useless IMHO. Mine broke within about a year. Too small to cover that hole probably.

Rigging boats
Alone, it takes me 1 to 1-1/2 hours with a CDI furler and quick release pins. No sense in rushing and fail to have everything fastened properly. I am sure it can probably be done in around 35 to 45 minutes if rushing (i.e. working up a sweat). I keep the 'M' in a slip and trailer it once a year to s...

Plating
I have an 'M' and as a chrome plater I can tell you there is no plating on the rails or anywhere else that I can see.

Polishing Stainless
You have been given excellent advice. To get a 'mirror' finish, buffing with pastes formulated for stainless is the quickest (tricky, be careful at the edges, and messy). If there is a plating shop nearby you may be able to have them do it for you. Would not take long if they are willing. I buff my ...

Quick release Pins on the Mac
I use 'Pins' wherever they make sense. I had one close call with the 'Spring' loaded type on the forestay. Will never use again, anywhere. McMaster Carr in Cleveland,OH sells a lot of different types and sizes...in 300 series stainless. Price and delivery are good also. They have large ones where yo...

Trailer or dock?
Not as easy as it looks. But, easy enough. Better to have a dock. Takes me about 1 to 1-1/2 hours for everything. So, it is ok if you are keeping it in for a couple days.

Good Dealer
I bought an 'M' from Otho (pronounced "'O' tho") Campbell - He bought Havencraft (in New England?) and also had another dealership in Virginia...think he still does. He has a lot of experience with these boats and is very knowledgeable. And I believe I received the best price. He sells all...

Leaking M
I have a 2004. First I discovered water in bow area. Anchor locker hose connections tightened (after drilling with hole saw and creating access hole). Hatch leaked as well. 5200 around hardware fixed that. If your problem is usually after a rain: I dock on a river here in Pgh. and there is a lot of ...
