I have the ST4000+ on my larger PDQ Catameran and love it! hooked up with a C80, ST60 wind, ST60 Tridata, 18" Radar and the 600W Sounder module. A huge chunk of change but well worth it! We even have a spare on board "just in case"

replacing sunbrella canvas

I've been thinking of replacing some of the sunbrella on one of my boats. I've looked at the sailrite site and I like their offerings but is there a less expensive sewing mahine that would work? I need to be able to sew the sunbrella and the plastic windows.

Any thoughts?

Ramps, Parking etc.. Tampa Bay

We have "Just Add Water" trailer moored on Merritt Island and love sailing the ICW. But my Grandmother lives in Clearwater and would like to sail Tampa Bay. I need ideas for ramp location with parking. Clean-up area nearby would also help. The closer to Clearwater the better. Of course... ...

I replaced the plug and socket on my X. Found them at WestMarine. easy job, don't even need soldering iron just a small screw driver to pull little set screws that hold the wires. Although tinning the leads to reduce corrosion isn't a bad idea either.

Just did what I should have done in the first place; I read Roger's manual. :) The manual for the 26X (linked on the left bar) shows bowline knots used on the halyards. I'll still mess with the splicing on junk rope just for the challenge of it but for now the ropes will just be tied. Thanks again. ...

the FID I have is about 6inches long made of Aluminum has a female threaded tail end, and was sold as being for the 5/16" line. I try to insert the core into the threaded end but end up taping it, is there a secret to getting it into the threads? Also thought about using a water based lubricant...

New lines aft / splicing woes

Got new lines for everything, color coded to help teach the kids. The main halyard will be led aft in a loop the returns as a downhaul. Among other lines I'm also setting up a tack line for the spinnaker. I wanted to splice the up side of the halyard, the end of the tack line, and the spinnaker haly...

ZANDRAMADAS,

Where did you mount the A/C itself? In the hatchboards? Also what genset do you need to run it? (how many amps?)

I'm loosing faith in the whole A/C idea now. What is everyone else doing in Florida for night time cooling? Does the boom tent really offer that much temp drop over just having the bimini and dodger? What about the curtains?
I'm open to all ideas and thanks for the help.

I tow mine with a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the 4.0 6cyl. I have a new Al trailer that was custom made for me and it rides fine up to about 60-65; above that it gets a little squirly I assume beacuse the Jeeps wheelbase is so short.

The Gen was sitting in the cockpit on the helm seat. When I went to sleep it was down wind but the wind changed while the current stayed the same so we didn't swing around on anchor. I'm liking the ideas of using the small "room A/Cs" they seem to be more efficient than the cruise air. If ...

I used pliers like that to attach safety wire to weapons systems in the Navy; not sure if I would trust it for replaceing hose clamps though.
