If it has a dinette you shouldnt worry about racing it!
Even with the 50 hp the Mac will get you in when weather pops.
As others have said, its an inexpesive boat that will do everything, but nothing great. Get out on the water!

I easily got 15 to 17 mph with my 07 Suzuki 50. No ballast, 2 adults. As others have said likely the prop size, pitch.
I upgraded in 08 to the 70 but i believe the target rpms are the same, 5000 to 5200.

The 50 never would get up on plane with ballast.

Anyone know the capacity of the oem winch? Im looking at 1 that matches exsiating bolt pattern thats rated at 2500 lbs. That seems sufficient but i thought I would ask the experts before ordering.

JJan - I see your Sailing St. Clair, The Genny will be fine. I sail the south western end of Lake Erie and rarely do I need to furl the genny. I cut the end off an old fender and slip it over the furler drum while raising the mast. Keeps the drum from causing all kinds of scratches.
