Re: Tents.....

Some Texas beaches are just completely empty... unlike a lot of the US... --jerry Wonderfully empty :) I'm orignally from Texas where we used to kayak out to the barrier islands and take our camping gear including tents and camp out for days. Great fun. Would do it in a heartbeat with the Macgregor...

Re: Pyramid Lake, Nevada?

Thanks so much for the information. Maybe the best way to see the area is with a camper minus the boat on the first trip and to take the kayaks along.

Re: Pyramid Lake, Nevada?

What kind of roads circle the lake? Looks like an interesting place. We kayaked around Mono lake which was very interesting but too small for sailing and more alkaline.

Pyramid Lake, Nevada?

Anyone sailed Pyramid Lake in Nevada? Looks very interesting. Seems to be a popular fishing spot but I don't know about sailing/boating/camping/. I realize it's in the desert but we happen to like the desert, mostly in the spring. Anyone familiar with this place? http://www.nevadaweb.com/cnt/r-t/pyr...

Re: Anyone Ever Sail Salton Sea?

I think Salton Sea has improved drastically What makes you say that? Have you see anything about improvements recently or been there? I ask because we thought about kayaking there until we drove around it. We've been in the area in the last four years and it pretty much seems the same to us but we ...

Re: Anyone Ever Sail Salton Sea?

We were there maybe six or seven years ago. Was a lasting olfactory experience. Lot of dead fish and dead birds everywhere. Incredibly awful. Unless there have been some major changes, I wouldn't even think of it. Just my .02 Here's a short little trailer of a documentary about the place and pretty ...

Re: MacGregorettes

Hello, Val.

I've been posting here off and on for some time. My first post was way back in summer of 2004.

Nice to "meet" you :)

I read the info on the youtube video and it turns out the orca named "Luna" was a very friendly Orca and would swim up to boats and liked for people to pet him and rub his tongue. He was separated from his pod when he was young and for some reason, viewed boats as friends. Unfortunately, h...

Sailing with dogs

I guess this will get moved to the Pub :-( but I'm posting it here because I don't get to the pub much (not really my cup of tea).... Fun video but also a reminder that sailing with dogs could be risky. What do you do when your sea dog takes up with a five ton pal? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNU...

No apology necessary, K9. No way for you to know. Mollie was the bravest (too brave, sometimes) and most fun loving and most loyal dog I've ever had the privilege to share my life with. She was my first westie and a true friend. And also why I have four more :-) I'm guessing you have a K9 buddy or t...

Eric,

Are those windows in the side hull of the Coronado35? If so, were they retrofitted or was it designed that way?

We did have five. We lost our dear sweet 1st mate a year ago and are down to four now. She was 15 1/2 and loved to go boating. Any kind of boating (sailing, kayaking, dinghy). We are at four westies now. There are potty training papers you can buy in the pet department. Soak one of those with your d...

I am just sensitive to the good people and families in Mexico scraping by day to day that rely on the US tourist dollars to feed their families and hate to see them portrayed as something they are not. I have not seen anyone on this thread broad-brush the Mexican people this way. The closest you co...
