Re: Suzuki DF 50

When I had my X I always added Sta-bil to the gas tanks. Some years I would go thru 30 gals. of gas and other years only 4 gal. The gas was good for the entire season (6 months) and any left overs were put in my vehicles at the end of the season. I always kept at least 2 6gal. tanks onboard. Also at...

Re: thinking of buying a 1998 mac 26x advise please?

Don't walk away from the deal........................RUN !!! It's sounds like this guy is hiding something from you or just a complete idiot. Anyone who is honestly selling you a boat should be bending over backward to help you feel good about purchasing it. There are plently of honest, good sailors...

Re: Time to sell my 26X

Sorry to hear that you have to sell your boat. When I sold mine I took an ad on this site and also used Craigslist with some photos. It sold in 4 weeks. Good Luck.

Re: Topping lift question

I liked having a regular cord on mine. There were many times when I had the bimini up and I would have to raise the back of the boom by cleating the topping lift. You cannot do this with SS cable. The cord isn't that expensive.

Wind and Weather Forecaster Wanted

Quite a while ago someone posted a three day wind and weather web site that was very good. My computer crashed and I lost the site. I searched here for it but cannot find it. Does anyone remember or use the site? It was a guy's beta web site and it gave very accurate wind forecasts by the hours for ...

Re: Is Softscrub enough for the top deck or wax it too?

After cleaning the non skid area I use a product called sure step by Aurora products from Canada. It is like a non slip wax however it just gets a sheen to it and not a real reflective shine. During the rest of the season the bird droppings, spider and bug feces wash away easily using a non skid boa...

Quebec 1,

How long did the shine of the Vertglas last? Did it last the entire season and did you have to strip it off this season?

To those who are thinking of installing lazy jacks. You may want to do a search on sailcaddys. There are several of us on this site who have them and are happy with them. They are cheaper, don't hang up on anything, fold onto the boom when you are not using them, work very well, and did I mention th...

Corkscrew, one other detail. When you are winching the mast up you should not feel any resistance. If you do, stop winching and check your shrouds & backstay. They will be hung up on something.

Not sure if this applies to the DF 70 but on the DF 50 there is a vent plate underneath the cavitation plate that needs to be duct taped in order to get enough water flow into the pump for cooling properly. Mine won't PEE without it.

They are called Doel fins. IIRC some on this board tried them without much success. I beleive it has to do with not enough speed. I had them on one of my powerboats and they worked wonders. Do a search on the term and see if any thing pops up.
