Re: Wallas stove vent pipe problem

I called Scan Maine, talked to Doug. He advised against the use of the drain copper tubing that comes off the bottom of the loop. The primary purpose of that is to drain condensation buildup. He states that if the placement of the thru hull is such that water comes up past the loop, to the height of...

Re: Wallas stove vent pipe problem

Kevin and Rich, I don't think there is room enough to install a gate valve (really tight quarters on my boat). The suggestion to raise the exhaust port is an interesting one and one that I will investigate further; maybe calling the Wallas distributor in Washington would make some sense at this poin...

Re: Wallas stove vent pipe problem

We have a common problem. I have the same dilemma on my Odin and just have not worked out a solution. I simply place a plug in the thru hull from the outside when I am sailing or when I know that I'll be motoring in chop. This requires planning ahead and docking on the port side to access the thru-h...

Art, I currently own an Odin 28 (for 4 years). I am wondering what the estimated weight, in pounds, including the trailer, the new Diesel version of the Imexus will be.
Thanks,
Jeff.

Duane,
Which LED stern light fixture did you get or did you simply replace with an LED bulb?. I am discovering that LED fixtures for stern lights come at a steep price. Nice job on that arch. You have done what we talked about 2 years ago.

I concur with all of the above, Frank. The key is to practice recovery, to do the due diligence you have done. I think we have all read about procedures and imagined them, working them out in our minds. Yet, as I have put them to the test, even in calm waters, the real world experience is a whole di...

Is there any variation on this theme with only the helmsman left aboard, since we most often sail as a couple?

DLT, How heavy is this unit? Something you can easily transport in the back of an SUV? Or is it something you would typically put in the garage and leave it there. My thought is to bring it to the boat and use it to clean it every 3-4 weeks with the standard brush cleaning in between. Also, any thou...

In the FWIW department, here is a pic of another wheel idea that I have really loved. I have the advantage of the larger diameter wheel, given the reach of the teak "spokes", but yet the wheel is proportionately smaller and that fits the look of the boat and the helm, as well as the functi...

Duane,
Thanks for the thorough description- given me several ideas. My first and biggest decision is whether to try to incorporate a radar arch or to simply go with the rigid bimin approach.

Duane,
I noticed that differently from most others that I have seen, the SS
structure of your bimini enclosure is on the outside of the canvas. What is
your reason for this, and would you repeat that to do it again?

Thanks, Jeff.

Pricing on solar panels will fall due to manufacturing technology advances...I would not buy at todays prices to secure a deal. Would you buy at today's prices or wait because significant advances in technology are imminent, say within the next year? A "crystal ball" question, but maybe s...

I have donned mine on occassion when I feel threatened, usually in cold Great Lakes waters, ususally when I am single handling or know I will need to go forward.
