Re: Converting Mac X to trawler
If you want to go topless do not forget you are on MacGregor. These boats are very tender with and without ballast and much quicker to rock without mast. I recently had engine trouble and had to be towed from slip in marina around seawall to the ramp. To speed up the process, as mechanic was towing ...

Re: Problem with throttle/shift cable. Need advice
I had the same problem with my old Nissan 30, and there was no possibility to avoid it, and I was changing throttle and shifting cable every few years. Cable mount on the engine was such that no slack or way you coil them could help. The only thing you can do is to choose the most flexible cable and...

Re: weak rudders
Well I am certainly one that had several issues with 97 rudders and aluminum brackets. I had both of my rudders split on the portion that is out of the water from the pressure while sailing and motoring. I also had my aluminum brackets cracked boh. I beefed them up with aditional plates and now my r...

Re: 50 TLDI will not start, runs on 2 cylinders only
I went back to it yesterday and it started on first attempt but it is running very rough, shaky and noisy. I tried do add more throttle (accelerate) and the motor will either shut down or slowly start getting to higher RPM-s but it is very loud, missing and smoking. I tried removing coil from each p...

50 TLDI will not start, runs on 2 cylinders only
I have Tohatsu 50TLDI, 2008, worked like a charm until last 3 weeks. I had problem on my 10 day trip with when the engine will with no apparent reason drop the RPM for a second and then come back. This was repeated every 5-30 minutes regardless of RPM (happened on WOT as well as on cruising speed ar...

Re: Tohatsu 50 hp Engine
I had the same problem (only WOT) on my old Nissan 30. Nissan mechanic did the check up and could not repeat the issue in the shop (and I am sure it was because in the shop the motor was not pushing Mac on WOT. When I launched again and issue repeated. Out of curiosity I changed spark plugs (I alway...

Re: 26X Floor Dimensions and Cabin Wood
When I was building my floor I made a template out of cardboard and then just traced it on the plywood (my floor is made of marine grade plywood, painted and stained to look like teak and holly). I used standard, I believe it is 1/16" thick foam for laminate flooring as underlay and I am happy ...

Re: DIY Full Enclosure
Once the canvas is cut peel the tape, fold it inside and stick it to the vinyl. This will give you almost finished product http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k527/LiverpoolLouII/enclosure027.jpg Once all the canvas is folded run the final stitch and you are done. This time the canvas is on the top ...

Re: DIY Full Enclosure
As previously said the canvas work is completed and I started cutting and sewing windows and run in some difficulties (as expected). The machine was pulling the canvas faster than vinyl and the result was a very bad workmanship. Fortunately I decided to sew the window first and then cut the canvas. ...

Re: The Gauntlet Has Been Tossed Down
We are turning to be like some other sites, as soon as we do not agree with something we use the words....bad words. All I can say is: my hat is down for the skipper and his crew. That was as good as it can be in these conditions. And surely we do not want to have entrance like this but we may have ...

I am planning to use cut out umbrella and use it for the windows covers for the UV protection and shade in...
