Re: Replacement for Mac Trailer

I thought I would post a follow up after living with the new 27' Loadrite for 18 months. Concerning worries about the #6200 pound capacity suspension. It works fine and has a great ride. Much more cushioned and gentle than the original Mac trailer. I would not recommend lowering tire pressure to sof...

Re: Hold down straps revisited with new trailer

A nice perk of the 27' loadrite. I added pad eyes to the top motor mount bolts so I could use transom tiedowns. Sure is a lot eaiser than a big strap over the cockpit. BTW if you begin blowing fuses for the running lights check the wiring inside the rear cross member. The wiring for the 3 LED light ...

Re: Inflatable dinghy advice on a 26X

We have been using a West Marine RU360 (roll up) with acceptable results. It is rated for three people and a 4HP engine. We can inflate it on the foredeck. It fits on the fore deck once inflated but blocks vision from the helm. It tows well behind our 26M. When deflated and stowed it fits in the cab...

Do you know the measurement from the rear corner of your boat to the center of the two axles?

Re: Anchor vs Mooring Buoy vs Trailer...

I once watched a brand new 25ft Wellcraft crack open like an egg during a severe thunderstorm. This was due to big waves in shallow water (4-5ft) causing the boat to pound on the sand bottom. The boat was lost. The capitan's mistake was anchoring in too shallow water. We rode out the same storm on t...

Re: To sand or to polish...?

I recently refinished our 2006 26M. The beautiful shiney blue gel coat finish was destroyed by south louisiana sun. I have tried several hand methods but the dull oxidized look reappeared within weeks. After reading up I began to understand that no amount af wax was going to fix my problem. I was co...

Re: Replacement for Mac Trailer

Fxwg80hd The difference in model number denotes two axle brakes otherwise it is the identical trailer you have. Regarding tongue weight I think we are "heavy" also. I repositioned the bunks to the lowest and most rearward position. I also moved the winch stand as far as it will go rearward...

Replacement for Mac Trailer

These are my experiences with the Mac built trailer (2006 aluminum version). I realize that others who use their boat only in fresh water and do little trailering may have not had these troubles. I share them only to show my rational for replacing the trailer rather than trying to modify/update or f...

Re: Dink outboard on stern seats

I fabricated one out of "star-board" and suspended it from the stern perch rail using rubber insulated wire clamps. Not High-Zoot but is very functional.

Re: Mast Anchor Light Installation

I mounted an 3NM LED Anchor light from Signal-Mate last year. I used two Gardner Bender "Glo Fish 15' Fish Sticks" Lowe's Item #: 213828 . The tool comes in 3 ft sections totaling 15ft so I used two to get the required lenght. I used #12-2 marine wiring because I was concerned about voltag...

Re: 26M Steaming light deck fitting

My intentions as well. Where did you get it? I purchased the same 4 prong from WM but could not get 4 wires with casing through the strain relief hole, very small. I found this 5 pin one and ordered it. I have it but have not installed it yet. With 5 pins I plan to add anchor, spreader, and deck lig...

26M Steaming light deck fitting

I have been having trouble with the stock (perko) steaming light deck fitting on my 2006 26M. I have replaced it twice. It starts out as bad connections that you have to wiggle so the light will work. Then the small pin eventually breaks off rendering the connection useless. I have searched the foru...
