Re: Trailer Mods required overseas
No I refurbished the old axle, still got a few years left in it. Probably do the big upgrade when I retire in 3 years. Did you grind it back? ... Which treatments/paints did you apply? I'm considering finishing the axles with that Black Tar stuff called Body Deadener. I've used it before with great...

Re: Trailer Mods required overseas
Trojan make a single DURATORQUE axle rated for 3000kg that can be fitted with electric drum breaks or discs. This can be fitted with a SURETRAC TYRE SIZE: 285/75X16 which is rated for 1500kg per tyre sadly the highest rated rim for a single axle I have seen is a 16x8" SUNRAYSIA at 1450kg so th...

Re: Mppt and solar Post by kurz » Wed Jul 04, 2018 11:22 pm @Kadet I agree with you 100%. For me the advantage with 2 50W panels in serie and mppt controller is important as I want to inrease the output in bad conditions like morning/evening or when the sun is shaded. So the 2 panels in serie will ...

Re: Mppt and solar
Maybe other know better, but the best output with mppt regulators you have when you use 2 solar panels in serial mode. So you get higher voltage that the mppt regulator can convert in 14.4V or 14.8V. Fortunately some people do know better :) A typical 12v Panel puts out between 18-21V so an MPPT co...

epirb all the way it is designed specifically for the purpose. You will also need CE certification before you can import it into Europe. Probably less expensive in the long run to buy a cheap keeler or ex-charter boat in Croatia or Turkey and do some proper sailing then sell it at a firesale rate before you leave 8) Something like this maybe :!: http://au.yacht...

Re: Diy halyard winch
Anyone have plans for a slim cheap halyard winch? Tired of saggy luffs. Regular winches stick out too much and are bulky. Working on a plan right now for simple lever winch made from ss plate and aluminum. Ideally made in a home shop somewhere. Ix I put a turning block and clam cleat at base of the...

Except the moulds too far gone to continue using for the and new ones were needed, so the effort went into making moulds.Meanwhile they could of been building and selling the Tatt 26 to keep the wolves from the door, a mature, well respected design with still some value

Re: Is this the boat for me?
You can get a 2 banger 9.9 that weighs in around 27Kg (https://melbournemarine.com.au/9.9Hp%202%20stroke%20lite%20weight) , 4 strokes are savage heavy, My 6Hp single cylinder Tohatsu sail drive (which would also be a great motor with its extra long leg and high thrust prop) weighed in at 28kg. The ...

Re: Is this the boat for me?
sailboatmike you must be a weightlifter a 9.9hp like a yammy weighs in at around 40kg, I struggle to lift my 16kg kicker on and off the dingy9.9 on a outboard bracket hanging off the transom that you could use as a dinghy motor and a spare main motor is required.

Re: Is this the boat for me?
Really appreciate the reply and this leads me to another question. I tried to search for efficiency. What is the best outboard for cruising at hull speed? I'm not looking to get there fast, I'm looking for the journey! At hull speed it makes not real difference if the motor is propped correctly, th...

Also, isn't the "flash point" of diesel "higher" than gas? If it were "lower it would be MORE flamable. 8) Well yeah higher temperature but lower risk, I am dyslexic so give a guy a break and isn't it inflammable from the Latin verb inflammare, which combines flammare (&quo...

Re: Is this the boat for me?
Cons 1)outboard. I'm sure a diesel would be much cheaper to run just chugging down the ICW. 2)outboard. Obviously I would wait for a perfect weather window to cross to the Bahamas, but the idea of an outboard beyond the sight of land is a little less than thrilling. 1) no not in a trailer boat like...
