I had the same problem. The cause was vapor lock cause by the eigine being to hot, but not hot enought to overheat. Change the thermostat.
That should correct your problem.

Put a 6hp kicker on the starboard side, so next time you fail, start the kicker to avoid the rocks. I blew the head on my engine and learned my lesson the hard way. Now I have a backup.

Well I just received my check from Boatus Insurance. Just to let everyone know, I had no problems with BoatUS. As a matter of fact, after I submitted the first estimate it was discovered that behind the aux 6 hp engine the fiberglass was cracked from the boat hitting my engine and sent them an addit...

Kenoten, your right. The Hudson River is a fast running river and you need slack and a spring line on your boat. I have two stern, two bow and one spring line. Not to tight, especially the Mac the tides either push it away or pull it into the fingerdock. What marina are you in? I'm at Cornetter's in...

I do have to say that Boat U/S insurance was at the marina Saturday morning to inspect the boat. They even had it hauled to check for structual damage and found none. They told me to get a written estimate for the repairs and get it to them within 30 days so they can settle the claim. What a great c...

Thanks for the advise on using PVC pipe. I think I'll glue it in with Mr Stickey glue. That stuff will hold anything, and very little mess.

I use liquid bleach 1 cup a month, I fill the tank let it stand overnight and flush. I replaced the vent plug with a pvc valve vented through the hull. So if I keep the valve open 1/4 of the way the tank can vent from any build up of fumes. I also flush the tank with 1 gallon of bleach at the end of...

I have a 2000 X and what I did so I did not have to constantly lift the cushion and wood cover to get to the vent plug in the bow was to install a plastic elbo in the hole and ran a piece of 1/2 or 5/8 clear tubing to a pvc valve, then flex hose from the pvc valve to a through the hull. Now when I n...
