Re: Shallow depth alarm

If you're at open throttle,or close to it, you're probably moving too fast to react safely from a sudden threat from below. When sailing, my eyes are basically fixed on what's ahead, and I'm looking for changes in the water surface. I had a scare several years ago that keeps me from straying out of ...

Re: What is the record for posts?

Drifter's "So I just bought a Mac X" thread is 12 pages long, with 5,805 views. The thread of "Chinooks Great Loop" is 16 pages long, with 62,811 views. There might be a thread with more pages and greater views, but I didn't find it. There are a lot of threads to go through. I just superficially sur...

Re: Top Speed?

Yes, but if there are enough charts, one might be able to correlate some similarities.

Re: Top Speed?

This has been graphed out before; the challenge is trying to find those posts. So far, I haven’t had any success.. Hopefully, those who posted a fuel consumption chart will see this.

Re: Top Speed?

The most efficient speed is hull speed. In an :macm: , that is about 6 mph.

If your thinking about long distance at high rpm, forget efficiency. Your better off figuring how far you can go on a tank of fuel, and calculating your trip that way.

Re: Limber Holes for the Mac 22?

Since my :macm: is a 2005, maybe yours is a later model :?: There were changes made. For example, the wood trim was removed from around the windows.

What are the two bolts for :?:

Re: What communications radio do you have?

There is no conduit through the mast. There is foam, but it is not through the entire length of the mast. I believe it may be in sections. :?: You can run anything you wish up the mast. The rotating mast only is a problem with wind direction electronics. I'm not aware of anyone who has solved that. ...

Re: Limber Holes for the Mac 22?

Jimmy said: The 26m has one at the base of the cabin ladder. This caught my attention. My :macm: is wrapped up right well for the winter, but I had to check for myself to see if indeed there was a limber hole at the base of the cabin ladder. Not in mine. I had to fight my way back into the boat, sta...

Re: Limber Holes for the Mac 22?

Before drilling holes, have you thoroughly sought out correcting where the ingress is when the winds really start to blow?

Re: TOW BEAST

Hopefully Quebec see’s your post. Bertrand hasn’t been active in over two years.

Remember, that in the original manual for the :macx: , maybe even the :macm: , I’m guessing, Rodger showed a Ford Taurus as the tow beast.

Re: Limber Holes for the Mac 22?

I had to look up what a Limber Hole is. A limber hole is a drain hole through a frame or other structural member of a boat designed to prevent water from accumulating against one side of the frame, and allowing it to drain toward the bilge. Limber holes are common in the bilges of wooden boats. The ...

Re: Can't Raise Centerboard

Remember that hole you were questioning.

When down, the centerboard fills with water. When raised, it empties; same action as the rudders.

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....

When a powerboat user is planing he is describing the case where the boat is ahead of the bow wave. About the time the bow wave passes under the stern of the boat the boat will level out and start going faster without having to increase engine RPM. In fact, you can often throttle back noticeably an...
