M forestay

Anyone have an :macm: forestay failure? If so, where was the failure?

Not interested in :macx: information; not applicable. The :macx: mast rig is different than the :macm: ‘s.

Re: Storing Kayak in MacX

Except for the price, this looks like something to make both paddle boarders & kayakers happy. West Marine is knocking $1,000. off the suggested retail price.

Re: Window Trim

very interested to hear what those of you who have owned, sailed, motored, and modified them for years have to say! You will find your Mac to be a very versatile boat. It doesn’t power as well as a powerboat, and it does not sail quite as well as a traditional keelboat, but it does both well enough...

Re: Window Trim

I have an :macm: , and have limited time on an :macx: , so I want to make sure you understand that this is an opinion from an owner of a different Mac. That being said, after fifteen years on this site, I don’t recall anyone doing such a mod. I believe that structural integrity to the deck & hull wo...

Re: Looking to replace my Genoa. Here are the choices.

I’m glad there are so many of us who are contented customers of BWY, I am one also, but when there is an opportunity to visit face to face with several companies, walking distance from each other, which sell the product that you are interested in, and have that product right there in front of you, i...

Re: Looking to replace my Genoa. Here are the choices.

I have done business with BWY . BWY is not only a good company to deal with, Cheryl & Todd are really nice people who have been, and are, assets to the MacGregor community. That being said, buying over the internet, or via a phone call is no where near as good as seeing, touching, asking questions t...

Re: Looking to replace my Genoa. Here are the choices.

I have thought about that for awhile Rich, but at the show I had the opportunity to actually see, feel, question what was in front of me.

Looking to replace my Genoa. Here are the choices.

I went to the Annapolis in water sailboat show last weekend, and got prices from:
Elvstrom Sails (Alison),
Ullman Sails,
Neilpridesails,
Quantum sails.

Does anyone have experience with any of these companies?

I guess no one is on this site anymore.

Canadian Thanksgiving is next Monday. I was foolish in not checking my sources for accuracy. Shame on me.

On another note; IS ANYONE OUT THERE!

Ix,

What you sent is a teaser. :D

Explain why you believe the one’s you described to be superior; who is this guy in Texas?

Anyone purchased BWY rudders for an M somewhat recently?

BWY has two different rudders on their site. Is there enough of a performance difference to prefer one over the other. After fifteen years, mine are beat up. Need to see response from someone who bought either from BWY, or, if Cheryl is watching.

Re: Advice needed

A time tested way for making a sail easier on spouses who don’t enjoy healing ( I’m just guessing that is the problem), is to just let out the main sheet. A smoother sail, and happier crew. It just takes time for skittish crew to feel comfortable. Of course, I could be totally wrong about your situa...

Re: Lightning????

The long and the short of it is that nothing has been proven to work on a boat against lightning. Each bolt of lightning contains up to 1,000,000,000 volts of electricity. That’s one BILLION :!: I believe years ago I would see Cape Dory’s at boat shows; their advertising let people know that they ha...
