Re: premade 26X cushion covers

Truth be told, I don’t remember if we had cushions when we first purchased our 2005 :macm: twenty years ago. I taped together several brown paper supermarket bags which I had cut into sheets of paper. I laid them out on the cockpit seating and traced the outline of port and starboard seating areas. ...

Re: Sail questions

To me, having two mainsails means either you have a spare, or the previous owner just never got rid of the old sail. As to the green bag, maybe that's a binnacle cover. Do you have a binnacle on a 26S? The only person I know who has a roller furler main is Jimmyt. That makes him the expert on what m...

Re: Boomkicker vs Garhauer Rigid Boom Vang

Howdy folks, I'm looking to add a rigid boom support to my 26D, and I'm considering the Boomkicker from BW Yachts , as well as the Garhauer . Does anyone have experience with these? Specifically I'm interested if the pop-top is still functional. It seems to me that that Garhauer is probably the bet...

C Bucks,

This photo is stunning.

I would like to make a water color of it someday. Would you mind if I interpret it? I like to ask permission before painting someone else’s work. The composition is perfect.

Re: When is heel angle too much?

I can only speak in terms of my M. I have on occasion healed beyond 30°. However I find there is no real speed benefit to sail at that angle of heel. The boat sails faster with less sail between 5-20° and tracks significantly better. Absolutely true. I believe, the only reason to intentionally heel...

Re: Sound baffling for the motor

It’s hard to discern what is too loud. One captain’s LOUD , might be another’s purrr . Totally agree with this from Be Free. The BF50 is not a loud engine. At idle I can't hear it at all just a few feet away. It has a quiet hum up to about half throttle. Even at full throttle it is not uncomfortable...

Re: Mold?

Starscream,

If the bilge areas are used for storage, how resilient is this compound to abrasion, or do you only apply during off season storage :?:

Re: Poked a hole in muh boat.

That may be the source, but not necessarily. Is the black fender strip that goes around the boat in good shape? That can also be a source if the boat took a couple of side impacts when docked?

Water flows to the area of least resistance, so the source of your leak could be farther forward.

Re: Sound baffling for the motor

On my :macm: I have used my companion way insert for that.

I found that it worked to soften the sound somewhat, but because it interfered with raising the motor, it wasn’t worth it. On an :macx: there may be more room there?

When the skipper stops smiling. https://i.postimg.cc/CZKR7mt7/Healing-moment.jpg I loved this photograph. ⬆️ Stickinthemud57, I hope you don’t mind; I made an adjustment. The horizon needed to be leveled. When this is done, you see the real heel. I love it. https://i.postimg.cc/18Gp0NcR/IMG-2847.jp...

Re: When is heel angle too much?

Everything Bill said is spot on. Keep in mind, that before you get to any of those situations, you have the ability to prevent them; let out the mainsheet. You will then spill the wind out of the sail. You can then pull the sail back to engage the wind and start moving forward. As long as you have t...

Re: When is heel angle too much?

You’re not going to flip over. As stated above, the air will slip over and out of your siail. As to the angle of heel we have gone to…..I don’t know. Our gauge only goes to 45 degrees. We have gone beyond that many times  Does the 22 have a weighted center board, daggerboard, or a ballast syst...
