storage

All of us here in Marina Del Rey's mast up storage, including Mike Inmon with Inmon Yachts, store our boats mast up. The Santa Ana winds have ripped through there up to 100 mph and no problems. If it wasn't for the mast up storage, my wife and I would have sold our boat or been divorced long ago. Ra...

If you go with the Genoa, I would advise not to have the sail cover sewn onto it if your winds are always that light. The sail cover is nice to have as it protects and you don't have to mess with it, but its own weigh causes a loss in sail shape when the wind is that light... I run a 150 genoa with ...

rotating mast

Spray a bunch of sailkote or wd-40 on those washers at the base and it will rotate. Those washers just start to rust, which causes nicks and burrs in the washers, which causes the mast not to rotate smoothly. Spray them before each outing and it should be fine.

I put in a hand pump unit from West Marine. I think it is called the Whale. It is not a fancy electric one, but it is a solid unit that doesn't leak and works great. With the stock water bladder, it will suck that bag completely dry and vacuum out the air... Amazing difference from that POS stock one.

4th of July

Mike, I am almost 100% sure that Molly and I will be there. We will be heading for a honeymoon tour around Catalina on the 25th and plan to be back in MDR on roughly the 1st. So we will probably just grab a guest slip through the 4th. The only thing that would hold us back is if we are just tired of...

I have the AquaStar. It works just fine, but I messed up going with the wood floor...get the inflatable. As mentioned in the thread already, the wood floor is almost impossible to put together while on the boat!

san carlos in June

When we were just down there sailing at Thanksgiving, we met an American couple that now have a house and their boat in San Carlos. They warned against June as there is a mass of Jellyfish in June that can make your life pretty miserable. They also said the Bees are terrible in June and anything you...

Zuma claims to have done it.... However we haven't heard much back from Zuma now that people are actually interested. Paradise Cove, on the lee side of Point Dume, is a great anchorage under almost all winds conditions. A south swell will roll throught there, but winds are generally diminished. A ni...

Hardcrab, did you make the trip? Zuma hans 1, didn't mean to offend the local waters. I consider it all my local waters too. I bought my bought from H&S in Oxnard and sailed there for the first few months. Then moved down to MDR, primarily because I can't take my dogs onto the Channel Islands. A...
